Its something i think would be a good largh and not something you do every year like reguler bike events and with the nuronburg thrown in i think it would be good . But id definatley think about making it a long weekend and make the most of it so we could stop and go for the odd ride and see something of the places we pass threw. whats the cost of doing the neronburg i coulnt fined it from the site . and do you know we can just turn up on the days we need and just ride .

Can't believe that your taking your bikes over in a van , leave the vans at Dover and ride them there, thats what bikes are for, riding. Enjoy the experience of riding abroad if you've not done it before. The Nurburgring is situated in the Eifel Mountains and theres some great roads around the area and its only about 35 miles from the Mosel valley, very nice.

so what would you do if they brake down , were would you sleep . were would you keep all the stuff you need for a weekend away on the bacck of the bike in a rook sack . No thanks ill stick to going in the van doing riding when we get there and putting them back in to come home.

Never heard of break down cover if your worried about breakdowns, besides Norbo I wouldn't have thought your bikes would break down. ;D If you worried about breaking down you'd never go anywhere. In europe they have places for you to sleep called hotels etc. Don't tell me your going to sleep in the back of your van For a weekend you wouldn't need much clothing, so a carrier bag would do.

It's 26 Euros a lap I think now, was 13 back in 2006 (some inflation ) You have to check the calendar on the website to see what dates/times it's open to the public. When it's open to the public you just go to a machine, buy a ticket, stick it in the barrier and off you go. Your bike is supposed to be road legal and there are noise monitor people listening at the barriers, if they think yours is a bit noisy then they pull you to the side for noise testing www.nuerburgring.de/en/angebote/driving-experiences/tourist-rides-nordschleife.htmlI might be up for this trip if it doesn't clash with anything already organised. Done it before but rode I did it 2006 with a mate, me on a fuel injected Blackbird, he was on an RR2 Blade.... wot a trip The 2 of us left at 6am in the morning to catch the Dover ferry, were checked into our Hotel near the Ring by mid-afternoon, then off the the circuit for laps late afternoon and evening. Over 10 days we did 4,400 miles taking 2 days in the Alps down to Monaco, across the south of France, into Spain and 2 days in the Pyreneese. Bit rough on the arse but an unforgettable experience .

right this is what i have managed to get off the internet. ferry from dover to dunkirk id £150 this price is based on the lengh and height of my vauxhall vivaro swb van. 185 miles from dunkirk to spa. 43 miles from spa to nurburgring and i would suggest that we ride the bikes on this leg. 1 lap of nurburgring is 26 euro but you can buy 4 laps for 89 euros. no cameras allowed on the track, but can take pictures and video from trackside. I will be taking the van as need something to bring all the duty free back ;D ;D ;D I got the information from here www.nurburgring.org.uk/If you click on webcam on this page, then there is a live feed from the ring, lot of snow there at moment. 3 day pass for spa is 35 euros and as far as i can make out 10 euros a night camping so what do we all think? and is it the ring before or after spa? this was just going to be a trip to spa til yesterday when i mentioned to norbo about rob fulton doing spa and the ring as he has never taken his bussa round the ring and it got him thinking.

could be up for it, pennies dependant, happy to do the spa thing, done the ring before on the MV, was a great expereince and all that, but I'll just spectate if I ever went again.
The thing you need to keep in mind at the ring is that you are sharing it with all manner of vehicles and I do mean all manner.
When I went round, there was a Japanese tourist bus going round, it stopped mid corner to allow the Japs to take some photo's, talk about sh*t meself, coming round a corner at a ton plus to find a bus parked there, that was when I decided that was my last lap !!
plus you get super zooped up Porsches etc flying round wanting to race you, and they are completely nuts, I just waved them by and then blasted them down the home straight !!! ;D ;D

What bikes are you guys thinking of taking ?. It's a 12.9 mile lap and you really need to be going with the majority of the flow to minimise the amount of traffic you need to overtake or get overtaken by to minimise the risk. You also need to ride well within your limits and forward vision on the track to increase your chances of survival...lol Like Mr Muttsnutts says, there's one hell of a dangerous c**ktail of drivers and vehicles out there all the time ;D

Doesn't look like they've published dates it's open to the public beyond June at the moment.
The sooner a date is chosen and the ferries booked the better, as they only go up in price the nearer the crossing date gets.

also been looking at rules for driving in france/belgium and gemany. Motorcycles over 125cc must have headlights on at all times. For the van, warning triangle, replacement bulbs, fire extinguisher, reflective jackets and two breathalyser kits. you must also have your licence, v5, mot and insurance. Bleeding hell is there going to be any room for the bikes

Its also adviseable to get a European Health Insurance Card, its ok they're free. www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcareabroad/EHIC/Pages/about-the-ehic.aspx

Rang octogan who insure the van and checked whether I was covered abroad and was told yes I am insured even the bikes are insured on van insurance while in the back and my breakdown cover also applies abroad

Been doing the Spa weekend for several years and it is the best classic bike weekend your ever go on. I had said I wouldn't do it this year. But the guys that come with us are already asking about this years trip. So I'm sure we will be there again.
The ring not too bothered about. Been a few times and your 1st trip is great. But it wears a bit thin after a while. Has become a bit too popular these days. Best to go on a weekday evening.

Offered to plead guilty but they said I had to go! So I fecked 'em off. They gave up after 2 or 3 red letters but I had someone check, and there is (or was) a warrant out for me. Who won the bloody war, anyway.....

right the plan is this Going to book the 1pm channel tunnel crossing for wednesday 3rd of july. Drive to nurburgring and stay in a little hotel that robslc knows of. up early on the thursday morning and as soon as the ring opens get our lap done while everyone is warming their tyres and setting the cars and bikes up. have a watch of the lunatics going round for a bit, then go for a ride as have heard the roads there are brilliant. Late afternoon load the vans again and drive to spa and get camped. Friday absorb the atmosphere of spa, saturday a blast round the countryside on the bikes, then sunday spa again and then drive back to the channel tunnel and get 8pm train back to blighty ;D whats everyone think of the itinery and anybody want to make any suggestions or alterations?
