I have finally done it after around ten years of thinking about it. Purchased 1x4L0 '82 blue n white Elsie with 8.5k on the ticker. I cannot wait to start work on her. I warn you now I will be pestering for advice and where to get parts etc. I also believe that Norbo ..I hope thats right will also be receiving a lot of my hard earned :-) My plan is to trick it up with all the bits that were available at the time. My first purchase was some straight bars (hope they are Micron) I really love the site guys and you all seem very knowledgeable and keen to help. I look forward to some good banter/trades/purchases/sales and whatever comes our way. All the best. P x

I beat you by about 4 months. After many years without, I purchased a blue/white '82 LC back in August. Mine wasn't a planned purchase. I found a near perfect LC on Kijiji by accident and could 't pass it up. I blame the bank for lending me the money.

clock cover and clutch lever look right to me, maybe not seeing what your seeing, what do you think is wrong with them?
Your switch gear could be tidier/nicer, they are scuffed etc, but it does give it that patina ..... ;D

Thought I recognized it, still looks great, I looked at it when they first had it in but it wasn't for me. Did they do a re-bore and re build the top end?

Top end rebuild? I know nothing about that? Starting to worry now as it would require running in

I'm a t**t LOL the clock cover has a big rash on the left hand side. I have a new original top (pretty sure as it doesn't have any Japanese characters on the bottom) also the clutch adjusted is brass and not green and I think the original levers had a hole under the end ball. I could be wrong though

Sorry I don't want to worry you. I will be honest, I looked at the bike and after listening to it running it sounded like it could do with a top end rebuild. The right hand cylinder seemed a bit noisy. Only after I mentioned this did they admit they had done a compression test on both barrels and the right cylinder was low on compression and you could feel it when it was running via exhausts. I pointed out it had the correct carbs for the year 4LO/1 but the barrels were wrong being 4LO (not that this really matters in the grand scheme of things) and if my memory serves me correct the right cylinder has nothing on it at all but left still showing 4LO. Anyway they had another Two 350 LCs there and we're going to make two good bikes out of the 3 they had, the other two were candy blue, they both had 4LO/1 barrels but 31K carbs. They went on to say they would change the barrels over for the correct year etc as this needed the top end sorting but looks like they haven't bothered! I looked further and found paint inside the petrol tank that had blistered due to reaction with fuel, as who ever painted it didn't cover the filler neck! There were other things I wasn't happy with so walked away. BUT !! I thought it was a genuine bike that just seemed to have had an idiot loose on it but with a bit of TLC could be lovely! It just wasn't for me as he was asking top top money!! Don't get me wrong I'm no LC guru, far from it! and respect the friendly people on this forum for their knowledge and help! I took a friend with me when I viewed any LC as he does have allot of knowledge about them and I brought one in the end, it's not perfect but I think any machine of this age will always be needing something! Hope I've not put the fear of god into you I'm just being honest.

I remember him saying that it needed new pistons and rings and pretty sure the barrels were the later type. I sort of put a deposit down then went to see it a month later. It kicked over first time and seemed to run fairly well. I think it needs a good run. I did spot the paint inside but it didn't matter to me as the panels were faded and was getting a respray regardless. As you say though it is pretty clean and I did manage to knock a few hundred off

It will only cost a couple hundred quid to rebore and new pistons so the money you got knocked of should cover it, nice original bike mate

I think it looks like a nice one with just a wee bit of tidying that can be done over time. The rear footpeg itself is OK, it's the bolt through the holder/peg itself which I don't recognise. JR

OK so today I have taken the engine cases off to go to the painters (God knows why as it runs like a dog but then i don't suppose the air filter helped Getting some time off for the build now so should be more pics onthe way Does anyone have a spare duct and seal for the air box??? I take it the previous owner did this for some increased airflow

I think Norbo sells the seals, also get a genuine filter while you're at it. Tidy bike by the way. 😉 Jess
