Morning ! Been offered a suzuki dr125 , not seen it yet & the guys not really sure of the year , he thinks its mid to late 90s but on a q plate , has,a new mot and runs well (apparently ) , hes talking a couple hundred quid so must be worth a punt ?? Any one know much about these ? Any thoughts ?

Same engine in the GS125 good solid engines and copied by alot of chinese manufacturers. My mate had one for years and it never let him down once. For that money its gotta be worth a go.

Make sure you start it and listen to the top end.
Cam bearings are plain alloy in the head and have no forced oil feed. Rely on oil being pulled up on the cam chain so if thrashed cold the head is gubbed.

Looked at it today & as you said Steve , very noisy top end trying to be masked with a loud micron . so left it be , thanks for the info Dale

The heads running cams with no shell bearings and no forced oil feed, for all the cost of doing it right it's just nonsense. They don't just rattle, the performance is crap once it is full off slop on the top end. They are great little bikes, not got the top end of the strokers but pull from idle and great on the loose stuff. You can change the head easy enough but no guarantee you will find one. Steve
