i would say i think the mono shock suits the overall look better, but like anything its a personal thing. if your past builds are anything to go by this is gonna be a killer triple!

As you are going to the trouble of updating the running gear with better forks, 17 wheels, steering damper and 4 pot calipers, stick with the mono rising rate linkadge.

Well thanks for the input guys, on both forums the majority said mono so mono it is as I really couldn't decide So made a template & cut out a couple of 5mm MS mounting plates & tack welded them on ensuring the linkage is the same orientation as it is when fitted to the original frame, also inserted a washer which will allow for the thickness of the powder coat. Next was to weld it all up properly & add some frame reinforcement plates, don't want that bar snapping off Now to fit the lovely CBR600rr shock & fabricate the top mount & would you believe it bollocks the shock reservoir prevents the battery box from going in, no way no how. Solution fit one of the only half decent shocks available without a reservoir, this is off a 600 Bandit, may get a better quality after market one later but this will do for the build. Unless anyone else has an idea how I can get round this of coarse.

Hi, Fantastic build, as usual and lovely welding too. Have you considered a smaller, gel type battery that can be mounted elsewhere or on it's side in a smaller box ? When I did my 400f years ago, I had to mount the battery in the tail of the race seat. Gel batteries didn't exist back then unfortunately, but there are loads available for special builds now. Dusty

Well, decided that one of the main reasons to fit the CBR shock was that it looked good & as you can't see much of it with the side panels on, what's the point a decent Bandit shock is more than up to the task, so I've welded in a second cross brace. Then fabricated a top shock mount plenty of room for the original battery box now. On a lighter note just bought a pair of angel eye headlights, so if anyone's interested I have the other one for sale.

Been doing a bit more, got some nice Dynamic rear sets off ebay. Now I know where the mounting points are gonna be I can reinforce the swing arm mounts, so I cut out some plates. Then welded it all together, looks like a battle ship, think this needs some serious grinding to blend in all the welding. Got the inlet manifolds back today from the welders, not quite the way I thought he was going to do it but very neat never the less. This is how they look with the carbs mounted, not sure if there's gonna be any issues with the angle the carbs will be at :?

F**k that sucks. Nice work btw Nick. I think it's fine if you just clean the surface of the welds up a little with a flap wheel, just take the worst bumps off and call it a day. No need to grind them flush with the sheet metal imo (if that's what you had in mind) as it'll look miles better when the paint comes on anyway. The biggest reason I'm against ground down welds is because, not only could it weaken the part (not that it matters on THAT particular part you've welded though), but it is also rather suspicious. It'll definitly lower the value of the bike as anyone with welding experiences in their background would hesitate on buying a bike with ground down welds, or welds that has in any way been covered/hidden, as they then have no idea of the quality of the welds. So.. Touch the welds up a little on the surface, but try leaving as much of them visible as possible.

Been doing a bit more, got the fork bottoms vapour blasted & anodised black, unfortunately Kawasaki didn't use very good quality ali & they came out matt so I clear coated them with petrol resistant laquer, should be ok when polished (see the difference ) Also my new seat arrived from Bobtheseat off ebay, nice seat but it sits a bit higher than the original so gonna take some fettling to make it fit properly
