Well here we go on hybrid No 4 When I was 17 I had a lovely blue KH250 which was the fastest 250 around, found out why when I seized it up, it had a 350 top end ;D So this will be a 35 year old bike upgraded with parts of a 20 year old bike. KH250 frame, 350 engine with KR1s running gear. Started with this pile of shit sold all the bits I didn't need & ended up with a free bike ;D First thing to do was to get the KR1s swing arm in the frame, the arm was only 2mm too wide so ground down the frame mounts & beat it with a big hammer a bit . Now these look far to flimsy like LC ones, so opened up the spindle holes to 20mm & welded on spacers to suit the length of the spindle. Later I will weld on outer plates like the YPVS frames to beef it up Next job is to fit the yokes, I found the stem was 25mm too long so cut 25mm out the middle, fitted a 50mm long internal plug inside the stem to make sure it remained straight then welded it back together. Ground down the excess weld, new taper bearings to suit & jobs a good un also gonna fit this steering damper.

Nice work so far Nik Like the way you do things, don't just make things fit but make them right. Some would have just drilled out the frame without reinforcing it. Steve

Are you going to use twin shocks on the Kr1s swing arm

Are you going to use twin shocks on the Kr1s swing arm I was thinking about it & it would look right on this bike but getting a pair of smart looking shocks your talking Ohlins, loads o money so afraid I going down the mono shock route, picked up this almost mint shock from a CBR600RR should do the job nicely

nooooooooooooooooooooooo stick it out for twins................... Mmm thought people would say that this could get expensive. Been playing with the top yoke, drilled it out for risers, cut off the old ignition switch lugs, drilled & tapped a couple of holes for the clock mounts. Got a cheap set of fatbars & risers off the bay, dry assembled the KR1s forks to see what she looked like. First problem, I have to have the pre-load adjusters wound all the way in

They do look good and if you consider there are 2 for that price with adjustable damping then good value Steve

These arrived today from the good old US of A ;D 350 pistons, barrels & heads. Apparently they bolt straight onto 250 crank case. They were a bargain & rare as hens teeth over here so I was well happy to get them for £160.00 that was until Mr Turpin from the bloody inland revenue decided to charge me customs duty, import VAT & a clearance fee to the sum of £64.00 thievin b*****ds

Well done a bit more didn't like the position of the risers so I've moved them to miss the pre-load adjusters & welded them on to the top yoke. Also fabricated a clock mount bracket to bolt onto the bottom of the yoke, both should look good when their powder coated ;D Got a nice pair of headlamp brackets off the bay. Now this is all in place I can fabricate the steering stop/damper bracket & the front end fab will be finished
