Picked this up last year for journeys too long for the RD or too much motorway. Paid a mere £1550 for it, only done 14k miles and all standard except a tinted screen and different key for ignition. A screen off ebay and a bit of lock voodoo and now sorted. Took the standard can off and fitted the Quill for a bit more sound but is still BS stamped. Also fitted a 17 inch front wheel from a VFR 400 but kept the standard bits to put back on. Only problem is my old body, excellent on motorway and A roads but if you get caught in traffic it kills my neck and wrists. So the dilemma is do I give in and buy another Fazer 1000 which will probably have wear/tear and rust like the cheap ones I've been looking at or splash the £200 for a set of variable riser clip-ons? Steve

For the condition and the money it owes, plus the fact its a cracking bike ....... id keep it and try to adjust the riding position to aleviate the pain.

These are all the arguments in my head, but can't get the Fazer hankering out my head and I have always been a Yamaha man. In saying that I have been going to ebay it for a few weeks now and even managed to take pictures of it yesterday while doing some of the RD but couldn't bring myself to list it. Went to see a Fazer 1000 on Sunday but walked away. Only wanted £1700 for it, 2 owners ( female instructor owned it for last 7 years but had work bike ) history clear and a traceable 20k miles. Downside was bodywork had evidence of luggage wear, frame paint was work worn in places and was starting to rust, engine paint had blistered badly ( the early ones do ) and there was a rusted through bracket on the exhaust collector which would be easily welded or could get a second hand set for £80 but the head bolts/studs were rusted to oblivion so looked like too much of a nightmare to remove. Most Fazers under £2500 have these issues and even the one I bought new didn't cope well over winter and it was garaged Apart from the odd fastener and bracket the Honda is corrosion free and won't have this problem. Also suppose I won't lose anything keeping it, would only expect £1600 - £1800 for the standard bike which ain't really going to drop. But no project to do and fancied a KR paint job on Fazer Steve

You would think that all bikes now should have some adjustability in them. Handle bar height and angle, footrest position, seat height. Its frustrating sometimes, when something you fancy is just a no-go. When I was looking for a new one, the BMW 1200RS fitted the bill! but- I'm 5'4"!! and did not want something as heavy or big. We are all different sizes, its about time the manufacturers got it!

wow!!whats the one you looking at like chap? Put a deposit on the 54 plate 26k miles one, picking it up tomorrow. Has been off the road since mid 2010 and is a cat d write off. Been dry stored by insurer till salvage dealer bought it in March and applied for the V5 back. All Mot'd now, ridiculously little damage, looks like a walking pace spill so some scuffs from that and some marks from where a not so careful recovery has been made. Only issues is the exup has stuck with lying so that will be the first job needing doing and the wheel paint is shagged which is a weak point. Needs a bloody good wash as very dusty. Here's the ebay ad. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251121854624?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_970I'll put some pics up when I get it back, was specifically looking for one with the black frame and engine for an eventual KR paint job. Was either this one or an older high mileage one with the usual flaking engine paint and rotted header bolts that mean you can't replace the knackered collector/exup valve. Steve

I will see what polishes out then decide. Mark on seat unit is hardly noticeable as black paint and black plastic so main thing is the fairing scuff that I may get an aerosol from RS paints and sort it. Steve
