Just bought a YZF 750 race bike as a track bike but they do have a bit of barn door styling so to bring it up to date I'm going to R7 it Here are the before pictures So first rear subframe the YZF rail is lower than the R7 one so when the seat unit is put on it just looks wrong so lower frame removed and moved up to follow the line of the seat. Also raised the seat height so it steers better and I have decided to fit the electrics and battery to an alloy battery box Next the R7 front fairing has shown that the front subframe really doesnt work so a bespoke one will be made to fit the R1 clocks that will be fitted More to come

Will be very interested watching this one come along, our youngest has got R7 fever and believes them to be the best bike ever made,we had all the posters and magazine pictures and features etc strewn around the house at one point. When he turned 17 I bought him an RG125F till he does his test, then he wants an R6. Our eldest is currently on 600 Bandit while he's also saving for an R6. You're putting a lot of work into a track bike, keep us posted with plenty of pics, good luck with the project,it's a cool idea.

Don't wanted to pee on your fire matey but I cant see any sense in spending to much money on the cosmetics of a track day bike. Could well end up with the plastics in a thousand pieces after your first venture on the track, especially if you get into a few duels. Better off spending your cash on some spare wheels with good tyres on. But each to their own. Good luck and enjoy.

Well I like to have something different at the track, here is my SV I put together 3 years ago and recently sold. I already have 2 sets of wheels and tyres plus loads of spares.

I crawled all over the R7 they have in Robinsons of Rochdal with a measuring stick, the YZF frame is remarkably similar to the R7 one.
I know you can get the still get the standard YEC kit airbox (RAM air) for £600 but needs a cut out in the rad for the ram air tube to pass through.

Need a screen to continue but an R7 screen is a special order from Skidmarx and a 2 1/2 week leadtime. Slidmarx were the only people who list them as far as I can see.
There is also a need to slice the corner off the radiator and reweld so the side of the fairings can come in.
Still lots to do............

Can't help feeling that buckshot has a pretty valid point......... that said your project looks like fun. Personally i've always hankered after a YZF in Cadburys Boost colours like witham and Hodgson used to ride.

Every year we do 4 days in Almeria and the bikes there are amazing, this year there was a FTR moto2 bike, Ducati Desmodecici, about 4 Pagilali's countless R1's and 1198's.
This will cost me about £1500 all in (including the bike) and it will look different and brill.
I would rather drop this than a new bike

Ah mate, you've done a cracking job on that, lovely work and the bodywork/paint is stunning.
Just keep some oil close by, my YZF750 used more than my LC does..

that looks unreal lad! i have a thing for r7s.. i saw the thread title and thought surely a yzf750 will look a bit out of shape with r7 clothes on.. but it pulls it off nicely! loving the colours btw
