Now there's a thought. Based on the figures I quoted for the 250e this would give around 27:1 at idle revs and around 32:1 at full bore. The idea was because of the larger capacity and power increase in mine I wanted some more oil but if I increase the pump setting it is very smokey at low revs, It was also so the premix would stop the very precious tanks from rotting. Very easy to change back and forth also. Steve Another good option here, already discust on a previous thread, is to use the standard pump setup and additional premix at around 140:1~150:1 This would spread the low/high speed ratio's out quite a bit more to around 52:1 and 17:1 (thats using the 150 mix)

Having given due consideration to al the various replies, I think leaving the pump in situ but without the operating cable AND running pre-mix at 40:1 is the way to go. That way oil gets to the vital bits at tickover, full-bore and on the over-run.

Arrow,
YPVS question, On my N1, I just stripped the oil pump out for the rebuild and noticed that the washer on the end of the drive shaft for the oil pump is missing. This washer is indicated in the manual and I presume is purely a thrust washer, although not under much load seeing as it's only a plain washer. part number is 90201-08624 Do the pumps differ from model to model with this washer..?
Cheers Reg

Cheers Reg Hi Reg, this is a common part for all models, as far as I know. As you say its not a hard working part and I know of people who run without it with no problems.

Cheers, I've checked the pump and there's no significant wear so it doesn't seem to have done any damage... I've ordered one anyway and will check the end float before fitting it...
