Whilst im still on the lookout for a smoker project,i have this to tinker with,a CCM 404 motard thats a bit more pokier than it originally was ....
When i got it a couple of years back for £1800
Plastic change and Ti silencer for better sound
Then went mad big bore stroker crank, wild cams, wiseco valves Yoshi RS4 Duel underslung exhaust, 4 pot Berringer front brake with radial master, zeta clutch lever and perch, hens teeth Billet clutch cover and other anodised bits and bobs
I've now fitted a manual decomp to my stroker lump to help it a tad to crank and fire,i thought a little fettling might be in order ...
First off the decomp part, comes with an aftermarket kick starter kit, don't need the manual foot as on the ccm it won't fit due to the fuel tank being in the way ,pull the lever which then locks and the cam depresses the exhaust valve slightly to lower the comp, engine cranks over easier to fire,as soon as the exhaust cam actuates the valve the external spring releases the decomp mechanism and the lever returns to its non activated position, also fitted a cap on coil conversion from a gsxr to loose some clutter.
And the extra little lever to operate it
Now for the fettling, saw a thread over at Thumpertalk (big 4 stroke offroad site) where a guy had powder coated his cam cover,I thought i can do that, but cheaper !
So sourced another cover off ebay for £9
Buy some vht heat resistant paint
And the result, which actually suprised me how good it turned out seeing i sprayed it in the open in the garden with the sun out.
And fitted ...
Looks good, but shame its almost completly hidden by the tank on the ccm, more visible on a DRZ i think, anyhow its the little touches i like that make the bike
Keeps me busy and its goes pretty well with lots of grunt, should be kicking out mid to high 50hp and when i get round to oval boring the carb i should get a bit more top end out of it.
