cheers as mentioned... mechanically its sound, had a lot of new bits on it - new chain, tyres, fork seals ect. and a full years MOT so its ready to ride, its no where near mint though and its annoying me thinking about the little faults I've noticed. Like my LC, its going to be played with until I'm happy

Very nice. One of my all time favourite colour schemes I had a D reg FZR 1000 in exactly the same colours. Wish I still had it.

never own up to owning a vauxhall they never made a good 1 ... hmm.... ford man then I take it? Well I'm only young and its basically a car I've learned from.... Not knowing any mechanical know-how I've recently ported, polished and re-profiled the cylinder head, replaced all valve guide seals and re-ground the valves in, new cambelt kit ect. .... Thats what I did a few weeks ago (due to running too high compression on another head I had machined)... now using a race spec multi-layered steel head gasket. Correction, this is the 5th head I've built and put on her! pushing her a little too far with the other modifications! So as you can tell, I'm very attached to the car. Anyway I digress ;D nothing wrong with vauxhalls, I love anything different... hence the RD I own and the new Genesis. The car is a VERY rare GSI Phase 2. Would have gone even older if I had more money at the time... I wanted a Manta A to be honest.

never own up to owning a vauxhall they never made a good 1 ... I kind of disagree m8 i had an L reg (1994) motorsport cavalier. I owned it SIX years and only changed the Spark Plugs and Oil.............. ONCE IN SIX YEARS!!!!!!!! ;D That car never broke down or went wrong and was used daily and went on holiday all over the uk. Dont get me wrong......i know there are better cars but i bet there are newer cars that wouldnt survive a life like that and last that long

Had an Astra hatch for 3 years and did nothing but MOT it each year only buying tyres and wiper blades. Currently got an Astra diesel estate and a Frontera sport, never broke down in a Vauxhall. Even in the snow.

Ive currently got a 60k mile vectra and its had the usual crank sensor, cam sensor, alternator and central locking electrical faults and i drive it like a grandad cos it struggles to achieve 30mpg from the 115bhp power house but i got it for free so cant grumble i suppose gorgous looking fzr and the astra gsi looks sweet too. im just not a fan of them eco-tecs id rather bolt a c20xe or even a old c20seh from a sri130 cavalier, failing that 2.3 saab turbo motors are ment to be a easy enough swap

People have tried to tune redtops and only got their engines back up to standard power (147BHP ish)so mines not doing bad a lot of redtops are tired now and well overpriced... Dont get me wrong, redtops are nice (my brother ownes a GSI with redtop) but I like to be different Anyway, FZR is my new toy stripped all headlights and fairing off last night after I noticed a water leak. Radiator is dead, its had a very poor repair which involved body panel filler by previous owner aww well, wouldnt be happy if I didnt have to play with it. Want to re-paint a few bits of it too before its on the road.

ok so done a few little things so thought I'd make this into a little diary now So first thing I HAD to do was do something about them horrid gold airintakes.... Somebody thought it was a good idea to paint them gold, I thought they were plastic... they were rubber! how anybody thought the paint would last is beyond me! Took me a LONG time lol but both are looking as new now Also had to re-paint the mirrors, somebody has never heard of "feathering!" Not perfect but 100x better than the previous owner did! Made a start on making the fairing again lol, this will take me a while... So anyway, the above was just a few little things from boredom (I dont actually watch TV, I bring projects back into my apartment and keep my hands and mind busy that way, always have music in the background though). Ahem, lol.... so noticed that the bike had a weak bladder, when the bike got to temperature it started to pee out with the extra pressure - A very badly bodged leak, its the bracket thats snapped off and been stuck back on again... it leaked, it leaked a lot lol Got another one bought (top), gave it a quick clean up and on it goes- Welcome to my garage there is a tailgate, 17" alloys, front and rear GSI bumpers, 2x 3 door doors, rear windows, bonnet, 2 x whole suspension legs, 2 x driveshafts, a C18XE head, X20XEV head to name but a few items hidden in here! Bubble fairing, lights and rad off, waiting to replace the rad Rad back on, anti-freeze in and lower fairings back on. Just to give an idea of how huge the bike is.... pics dont really pick it up so much but the tank on this is BIG.. but then I guess I'm used to my little LC

Update time Fairing all done but graphics and clearcoat very happy with the results considering how it looked before! Before (started to repair with fiberglass) After! This is the opposite side, all was there but was cracked, crack was grooved out and filled with resin then filler and sanded (there were a lot of cracks done like this) Fresh air intake sticker.... this is original and due to how rare the graphics are I thought I'd see if I could save these Barbie nurse.... scalpel! Did loads of feathering out and lots and lots of work done to it but thats all the photos I took of the repair work.... fresh coat of paint I'm very happy with the results! This is the bit where 1/2 of it was missing, not bad considering I've made this from scratch! The top lip / curve was a pain to get right! even looks ok from the inside too... this is the 1/2 missing bit I've repaired from inside And as luck would have it.... I found these on e-bay the other week! couldnt beleive my luck to be honest! mega rare!

update - Tail piece re-painted white, Yam decal and then clearcoated over (sorry, no before pics)[/img] Tail piece fitted Also fitted Yam decal to the fairing, its finished in this shot apart from the screen. Its clearcoated in this shot too Fairing fitted and new blue screen fitted (off a different model lol) Tank letting the bike down now.... So this is where I finished... masked all coachlines ect. and needs to be clearcoated to finish but will let it set for a bit before I remove the masking.

Cheers, I'm loving this bike too ... I find it really fits me well if you know what I mean Makes me laugh, this bike was sold as a "minter" "fully restored" haha, yeah right!

Tank finished now... it is by no means a minter, I've just done it quickly, looks a lot better than it did but cant really justify stripping it totally and loosing the graphics so spent some time masking everything- Again, its not a proper restore I've done on the paintwork but at least now I wouldnt mind been seen on it Still needs flatting and cutting back slightly. Also, sods law... I won this! 35 quid delivered so would have been rude not to buy it, shame I didnt see this before all the work with the original one... DOH!

Only used rattle cans on it I've got a few spray guns and compressor ect. (its actually all in my kitchen pantry at the moment) but couldnt really be bothered to rig it up, that and I havent got anywhere to spray it other than inside my flat.... which is where the fairing was painted which also wasnt the best idea I've had... whoops! there goes the bond I've put down on this place lol.
