Here are the latest pics for this year, all that remains is the second set of panels to go to the painter next week. And to 'T' cut the exhausts after some minor repairs. The motor was completly re-built just before the winter due to failure of the bearing behind the clutch. Replaced mains, big ends, all gearbox bearings and seals, replacement gear clusters and clutch basket. [a href=" "] [/a]

Thanks shane, the second panels I'm having done in kenny roberts rep. I was going to use Bt45's or Avon road riders, but I just like to be a bit different.

Arrow, at the rate I am going, doubt if I will get it ready for summer, but cant wait to get out and ride it, but rebuild time is short, especially with kids around.
How long did it take to rebuild your bike, it looks like you spent a lot of time on the detail, you should be really proud of the results.

The bike was 'quite good' when I got it, but still needed lots of the type of work that I like doing. The wheels were a mess I stripped 2 layers of powdercoat off them and then painted them by hand. They are still in 'protectant' in the pictures (and other parts). Lots of bikes look better in pictures but all the work has been done wiv' me glasses on so its pretty good up close too. Much re-plating of original fastners etc. Had bike only since April.

You've done well since April. Same boat with the powder coated wheels. Got another set of good wheels now, as I didnt know how to get the powder coating off . Everyones advice was that the alloy is roughed up to get the powder coating to adhere in the first place. Would appreciate knowing how to remove it ??

Problem is mate they have just got rid of the original nitromorse, and its now more enviromentally friendly (and crap !) The alloy wes not roughed up and all the original foundry marks are still there. I had to draw file all the spoke edges though, as some muppet had attacked them with an angle grinder, but luckily did not remove too much metal.

May put them in the 'for sale' section, or the bay if no one's interested. I think thats the easiest option.
Oh, and you can still tell its a hooligans bike, like how you've parked it on double yellow lines in your photos. ;D

You can always have them blasted, but you will loose the original finish on the spoke edges. Mine are finished in 6oo wet/dry and I think they look ok, but have no other options. The fork lowers also have a brushed finish, these are off the 250, but same method; [a href=" "] [/a] You can see the finish better towards the bottom ends.

Go on admit it you conveniently positioned each side of the centre stand on both yellow lines to save your fresh paint getting all scuffed You have a beautiful ride there sir

Arrow (no relation!) training school use them a lot on their bikes too. Edit; Important note. The Conto Go's are a tubeless type tyre. They can still be fitted on the LC rims as long as you use a tube, if that makes sense.

Spent a small fortune on the old girl but would do it all again. Just really nice to own it and to ride it.

what, no sticker on the 81, whats yours ? i cant tell the difference, i see the pattern on the front bit of the radiator grill is a bit different, anyway i like the sticker, the odds are that their are so few of these around here that nobody will know the diff, one other thing, ive seen the word anorak used a bit, is that another word for a purist?

I don't really like the phrase 'anorak', visions of train spotters etc. I simply like to replocate things as they were. I admire the guys who build the specials, I must be a purest at heart though, never built a special myself. To make a good club/forum you need people from both camps.

Aye for anorak read purist/perfectionist/knowitall LOL Just wait for the "decal police" to arrive Just to confirm non of the original LC's (4L0/1 models) were fitted with the chainguard decal as standard, remember reading somewhere that its off a TZR something or other Not sure what you mean about pattern on front of radiator a bit different I don't really like the phrase 'anorak', visions of train spotters etc. I simply like to replocate things as they were.
