Ok, well my brother had an LC when I was too young to have one and be sold it before I could get my hands on her He tuned it up and was known as the fastest 125 in Chesterfield and the police wouldnt leave him alone lol. Only bike close was a TZR125 that had £1000's spent on it and that could only keep up so that gives you an idea how fast it was. People were shocked because for 100s of miles he ran the bike in and mopeds ect. thought the bike was really stupidly slow! (it was a total re-build and tune up with crank balanced to race spec tolerances that a bike mechanic said couldnt be done lol!). So I was getting a little bored of my Fizzy and moved onto a KH125 but then moved house and coudlnt beleive my eyes when across the road was another RD125LC! how rare eh? This guy had owned it from a little lad and didnt have the heart to sell her, still started her up and also bought a BRAND SPANKING NEW MICRON! so as you could guess I was wetting myself when he dragged it out and warmed her up. Long story short.... I got her and she was on the road when I was 18 Shes a year older than me! lol So her she is... btw, the gay goatee and strange sideburns were all the rage back then.... honest! lol This was back when I was 18 (I'm 26 now) and shes been stood in a garage miles from where I live for about 7 years now. She still gets started now and again but next year she will be back on the road! Off to work, my brothers merit in the background that got GSI rep treatment but is no longer with us... car parts live on though- Still have the bonnet boot and doors! mint and really old! lol Taken years back *******TIME TO GET HER BACK ON THE ROAD! ;D********** New mudguard in resting in place and old one removed (it was painted with a brush and broken!) Brace removed off old one and riveted onto new one, also given a quick lick of hammerite! And back on looks much better imo just plain anyway. New speedo cable stay And looking much better, new guard and cable holder. Been a while since its been taxed, even longer since its been on the road! lol I got her NAKED! Not the worst I've seen but still, not perfect. Thats better! Hammerite red (fuel tap to be removed and replaced soon) Also drained all anti-freeze.... it looked yummy! lol The rad and expansion tank wanted a clean so found its way.... Into the BATH! hehe

Rad and expansion tank done - Inside cleaned, yet to sand in this pic. Sanded down some oxidisation and gave it a lick of paint. Not that you even see much of it when its on the bike lol, its hidden behind a rad cover. I'm happy with it inside and out now. Gave the cap a blow over too. Compare the expansion tank to the one in the bath, I think it came out well Also got a few other things together, new petrol tap and in-line filter (mines flooding the carb when left as it constantly leaks), new peg rubbers for a more OE look! Anti-freeze and underseat / tailpiece section of frame. Freshly powder coated Old seat has gone pink so bought another cover but thought it was a shame to hack that seat up, got hold of my brothers old spare (the crappy yellow and blue seat) so will be re-covering this) Also got hold of my brothers spare set of wheels, these obviously need refurbishment but the rear drum section hasnt come away / gone oval (a common fault is that the rear wheel is aluminum with a steel sleeve for the drum break, steel and aluminum together is a BIG problem, iron oxide eats at aluminum and makes it fur up distorting the steel sleeve). Not sure if I should- Shot blast and powder coat OR just do as I did with the ones on my bike and polish the lip and spokes (see first pics of bike above) which is what I'm leaning towards (its more OE too as thats what they looked like, powdercoat would just cover all the wheel)... although powder coat would be more durable.

Frame re-painted and sealed... will do for now but could do with removing and having shot blasted + powdercoated at some point. New against old. And heres the new tap fitted. Also some new fuel line and clips. Rad and expansion tank fitted and filled with 5 year antifreeze and de-ironised water. Doesnt even take 1ltr of anti-freeze

Old seat cover off.... actually found the original black one still under it too! It was a MESS! SO many staples So the staples were too long and ripped the cover going through the sponge Yes.... it took me a while lol As you can see.... lots of staples! Pulled as many out as I could... also gained 2 blisters, thats how many I did! Then I sanded the whole lot down to remove high spots / sharp edges. Then I had a bath.... errr.... I mean I cleaned the plastic base in the bath  Just to make sure some tape over the inside A little while later... (thats a lie.... it was a LOT later haha) Looks better than the crappy yellow and blue thing it once was! Its still not 100% though unfortunately as its become apparent that the cover is a 2nd, the stitching goes off and isnt symmetrical (the stitching goes off and then another line to correct itself started part way). Me just being me though... Its still almost perfect and is good enough to go on, just I know theres a fault with it thats not my own doing and I cant correct it without getting yet another cover. It will do lol

Oh yeah, forgot I did the Rad cover too... its finished in the above pics but looked like this before- This was after I sanded and also repaired the broken fins on it. Also got a new no. plate made up (the other one was a home made job-o). Right one is new and is correct size ect. is legal So at the weekend I was riding all over as you would guess I was excited to be on the road again with it.... forgot how quick they are! And thats me comparing it to my tuned up car! And then.... night time.... lights went and miles from home! Eeeck! Rode back with no lights around some scary round-a-bouts (one is called the kamikaze for obvious reasons!). Thats wasnt so fun! So... New bits And in case its the rectifier or electrics I'm sure I'll find something somewhere lol, battery is first to be tried though.

Small update... The fairing is off at the moment and is being re-enforced slightly on the mounting points, never taken it off and looks a little odd to me without its mask... needs to be put back on soon Chrome bars fitted (thanks Norbo, I'm well happy with them!) You'll notice my rev needle snapped I broke it the other day so I'll have to play around with my spare clocks one day soon Anyway, off with the old bars New against old New bars fitted... will probably tweak the height a little later Thought while I'm at it be nice to brighten up some ali too Got a few things to smarten her up but mainly been enjoying riding her... there is a slight electrical fault thats a little annoying... the charge isnt enough to keep the main beam on so at night I cant use her. I've stripped all plugs down and everything is clean with no earth faults (its a brand new battery) so now looking to change the regulator rectifier and then I guess at worse I'll be looking at other stator coils. Love getting my hands dirty though, be bored if I had nothing to fix

Cheers Well I've had her stood about 7 years now (if not 8), I only had her on the road a short while when I was 18, I couldnt afford both car and bike so just stuck with the car and she was left in my dads garage for a while and then outside under a carport and then for the past few years shes been in a garage that I rent purely to be her home. Even when I was struggling for money the thought of selling her never entered my mind, its not something I can sell in my mind... So every summer since she was pulled off the road I kept saying to people I was going to get her on the road again... recently realised I'd been saying that for a rather long time! so committed myself and shes now all legal. Looking forward to the summer!

Got bored Foot hangers off De-rusted a little and painted black (needs another coat) Found out standard flashers for the bike (I fitted the mini flashers when I was 18 but its time to put the standard ones back on!). So stripped down the original flashers and painted them up satin black as they were scraped really bad! (had to use filler and high build prior on them!), they came out alright (above pic is after) Also striped down the fairing braces and gave them a quick blow over... didnt really need it but could see small veins of rust that annoyed me Fairing repaired / re-enforced with fiberglass and resin. Just waiting on my new lenses for the flashers to come and then they will be thrown on... Also finally got myself a center stand on its way! I'm sure I'll be able to "borrow" a pin off my dad that fits happy days

Sweet bike mate, loving your parts bath, I mean erm... bath ;D Keep up the good work, keep chipping away at small details til you have it where you want it Nice to see people posting in the 125 section again, I think it was becoming rather dull, seems much better now though Adam.

Nice work mate. I got a 125 in the same color, though it looks pretty skanky. This one is a good project though, it's not tampered much with and on the pic it was full of 10 year old dust.

Looks an excellent project! Not a mismatch like most with later wheels / forks... Be nice to see that when its finished

Looks an excellent project! Not a mismatch like most with later wheels / forks... Be nice to see that when its finished It's a great bike! Couldn't have asked for a better project. Sure, it has some problems, but they're all pretty minor. It has more positive things then negative, such as an original sized barrel with the original honing marks visible throughout almost the entire bore, an engine that has never been tampered with at all, no fork leg rust, NO tank rust etc. The best thing is that I got it really cheap. Based on an online currency converter, I paid £93,62 for it. ;D Anyway I'll stop blabbing in your thread lol. ;D

Thanks, shes not mint and I dont really want to strip her and re-build her either if I'm honest. I want her good but usable if you know what I mean, I just cant help but tinker though (as you can probably tell with the above when all I needed was to throw a tyre on and she'd have passed MOT)... So next is 1. Take flywheel off and look at charging issue 2. Split clocks and replace rev-meter 3. Fit Fairing back on (Looks really strange to me without one!) 4. Remove the silly mini-flashers and put originals back on 5. RIDE HER SILLY! I'm only happy when my hands are dirty
