just collected my new bike from donnington show, its a Q reg 250 with 4LO crankcases and back wheel, and 31k carbs ,its also got a "proper" petrol cap. i am going to put a single seat on it, so the tatty seat and tailpiece and sidepanels are all available to swap, will swap the 350 wheel for a 250 wheel with a good tyre on.and sell the petrol cap. all offers or swaps considered. steve

have been busy on bike today, on closer inspection it needs more work than i expected. complete front brakes- m10 threads are u/s in calipers need helicoiling, had to drill screws out of master cylinder cap, pistons and pad pins are siezed.piston in m/cylinder is stuck in. gearbox oil is full of water, only 4 clutch springs - 1 post is snapped off and another has broken bolt stuck in it. then i broke the basket trying to get it off with my home made tool.( t**t)still havent got it off. rev counter works but is slow to respond ! l/h exhaust doesnt fit into barrel its wider than the hole. so now i need a clutch basket and centre.and possibly 2 front calipers.and the tank leaks,so i need another one of them too. i asked the seller to build me a runner with a race wiring harness and acebars, and to take off all the road parts, and i would sort out all the rest.thats exactly what he did ,so its my own fault for trusting a stranger. i have already got a spare master cylinder and new clutch springs and the seal and bearing for the water pump. steve

I have a spare tank that Pabs repaired if you want it for the cost of postage? it doesn't leak! I also have a pair of freshly vapor blasted LC calipers without pistons too! Not sure if they are the same but I have a couple of YPVS clutch baskets

Sorry you got stung mate, had it happen to me on a GSX1100 years back, built out of 2 bikes.....2 stolen bikes, the guy who had it robbed(the frame part they identified) was not insured so i had to buy the frame off him or scrap the bike, it also had a million faults, hope you get sorted and have a good time on it anyway. Then you could burn it to make you feel better.

chris, i dont think its nicked,i got a reciept with frame and engine number and reg number on it. the reciept says bike for trackday/spares no warranty implied or given .... so i think i can spend time and money on it without the fear of loosing it. i will soon get over the initial disapointment and then enjoy it. steve

Keep the faith, it'll all be worth it in the end!! i hope so Russ, it will certainly have cost me more, than if i had bought one ready to go, but at least i will be able to say its all my own work i have stripped, helicoiled and re-built calipers and master cyl, tyres and wheels and new chain & sprockets are now on bike. and put new fork oil in.still quite a way to go though.
