Hello Fellow Strokers Im new to this site and have just bought a 250/350lc frame (tie bar type ) with it came the v5 and a 4L1 crank case in great condition i have already bought some sweet rgv250 usd's and a rgv vj22 banana swing arm and trying to buy a linkage with bushes that will let me sling straight on the back end so all good , what i need to know is this , if i go down the road of building up or at least attempting to build a 4L1 350 lc engine , will this slot in to the frame i have , at this point i need to let you all know im popping my project cherry so to speak im taking the giant step in to the unkown as far as starting my first ever project so any advice on do's and dont's would well appreciated cheers

Yup, 4L1 engine will fit 4L0 frame without any mods, (and YPVS engine will also fit, if you do a few mods at the front sprocket and coolant hose above head etc) but the 4L1 engine case doesn't have any mounts for the engine stabilizer bars underneath.
These bars are good to have but obviously it isn't the end of the world if you don't have them. Lots of people are running without them. 4L1 bikes came out the factory without them too, although these models (80-81 year models) had problems with exhaust headers cracking. These older exhausts were not as strong as the later 4L0 exhausts though. They fixed the exhaust header cracking problem by adding the engine stabilizing bars and change the exhaust header design.

Hey Chief Thanks for you're guidance nice one , update on the usd forks they are not RGV but they are TZR250 R3XV so now looking for calipers wheel etc as well as an engine time to get some tin in me bin so to speak as i've got a few bits to get yet , do think the sensible thing to do is build the running chasis up to a good standard then think engine and electrics secondly ?
