trying to fit me piston on a mk2 125, and having trouble compressing the clips while i slip the piston into the barrel. i know you can get a ring compressor for cars but not a clue how to do it with a bike. just bust one of the rings, trying to fit it so any advice would be great help. cheers lovely

they should close easily, are you making sure that when you compress the ring that it compresses ie that you can do it before you put it up the cylinder, there is a very small locating pins in the groove that the closed end of each ring closes up to, this is so that the ends of the ring are not at the same point on the bore while working, if you have the piston with the inlet ports at 6 o'clock then the top pin is at 4 o'clock and the bottom is at 7 o'clock, when you compress the ring the ends will close upon them then is easy to slip in the piston. a little oil on the piston and smear on the rings eases entry (what is this adult education ). hope this helps.

Jamie is right mate........you should be able to squeeze them in with your fingers and slide it in........(ooeer....sounds kinky)....so long as the rings are located properly. make sure your piston is the right size for your barrel and that you put plenty of oil around the bores

i will smear some on me ring and hope it eases the entry.... will retry when i get another ring to replace the one i bust. hard trying to balance the rings, the piston and a missus that keeps moaning that "its heavy", and "can i go yet".. cheers lovely
