i saw some octane boster in my local motorcycle shop today and just wondered if any body has ever tryed it ? (putoline £9.99 for 1 litre). ive never put it in a bike before but i have put it in an old turbo charged car i used to own before trackdays or 1/4 mile runs, i only used it for protecton against pinking and detonation just thought it may be of a benafit on a tuned lc ?

today a few mates of mine went to the local rolling road to get some power runs on there cars,my car has been the same spec for years and it produced 174.9bhp @ flywheel 3 months ago so i ran it again today, exactly the same spec except a oil change and 1/2 litre of putoline octane booster (motocross use) in the tank with £20 of 97 ron petrol
it produced 183.5bhp@flywheel today and the weather was of a similar temperature to 3 months ago so im convinced octane booster does make a small power increase
(the cars a rusty old g reg cavalier gsi2000 with the coscast engine)

I know they put it in MX bikes . and it works well or they would not spend the money on it . But i dont know any one who has used it my self.

They did a feature on octane boosters on fifth gear or one of them type of programs, and the results were not good. In most cases the engines made less power

i did notice my old car did feel a tad more livley but the worrieing bit is it made a fair bit mechanical noise especialy at idle and the general running off the car was noticably not as good as it was with normal petrol in,i used petrol up that had the octane booster in and refilled with normal pump fuel and all is fine
i dont fancy putting any in my 125lc but ill finish the rest of it off in my motorcross bike,i just thought it was nice to share a post based on fact not fiction as there wasnt any other variables
shame i tested it in a car not a lc,

cheers norbs id be interested to know,i used to work next door to gbh motorsport (jap turbo specialists) and i used to regulary get free pump fuel from there road/track cars as before a track day they would drain the 95/97 ron pump fuel out and fill up with race fuel that was 102 or 104 ron ,
