Thought some of you may find this interesting as I get asked quite alot about the benefits of a programmable ignition Below are some dynographs of the same bike (350 YPVS F2) after several upgrades The first graph is of the bike before and after an ignitech was fitted, you can clearly see the gains to be had if it is set up correctly The second graph below, is how the bike looks now compared to when it was tested in completely stock trim, the changes made to the bike include a set of pipes, rejetting, some porting work and the ignitech fitted The owner recently rode the bike after it was finished and reported it was a significant improvement after the ignitech was fitted and rides really smoothly and nice now Hope you find that useful Dave I wonder if you could share your advance and PV screenshots?

I actually have 2 temp sender's...a Koso one just above the head between the rad...and one in the head that goes to acewell clocks....the Koso reads higher than the acewell....

so update on this, made no sense to me at all....so i ended up pulling off the carbs and putting a squite of easy start in and it immediately fired up, quickly hit to kill switch to stop it over revving.
at this point i also changed back to standard jets from 25 and 280, back together and got it to kind of run, but still very badly, and would not tick over, turned out i had the carb sliders in the wrong carbs....so they were in backwards, as soon as they were back in the correct carbs fired up and ticked over.

Looking for advice and experience re an alternative for an rgv 250 shock absorber...I have a braced rgv 250 swing arm and a standard rgv shock fitted....which is knackered....has anyone fitted anything else...IE r6 or some such... apparently Aprillie rs 250 shock drops straight in...are the OEM ones of these any good?

We never did leak down tests back in the day - more likely we would stick them back together as quickly as we could and get straight back out !! As much as I enjoy building an engine, I don't want to do it regularly as it's too expensive !! I'm not saying a leakdown test is totally fool proof, but once you have the kit it's worth the effort on a new purchase or a rebuilt engine. Dusty yes that's basically the route I've gone...after getting it running I was getting bad clutch slip...on stripping the clutch I discovered the center boss had had one of the pillars repaired with a countesunk bolt from the back of the boss...gear box bearings we're flakey so I stripped completely and have just rebuilt...got it fired up tonight and now sounds tight and responsive...but I think I've buggered my fuel tap

So with some over exuberant force put on the fuel outlet on my 31k it parted company with the fuel tap assembly...it seems to pop back in with a click...and isn't leaking but my question is....is the fuel tap now fubar?

When I tore down the engine it was a bit wierd....some crappy blue silicone had been used but not everywhere...it looked to me like the reason it had been split previously was to replace the output bearing...which had previously spun...and the flywheel which was a very unusual gold colour had been painted...when I pulled it and cleaned it up it had multiple 3 leg puller marks and loads of hammer marks....so someone has had a go who didn't know what they were doing...anyway it's back together and sealed with 3 bond with a new crank...though I haven't started it yet....I suspect it was leaking behind the crank where the silicon seemed very sticky and degraded.

used the plasticoat lots of times great stuff, used to buy it cheap in my local what shop, never tried it on a engine though I bought some of this and I did a second coat after the first coat dried....and got some areas of reaction....may be due to me not degreasing properly...but just a heads up if anyone is going to use it...do one good coat
