When you try to increase the revs she bogs down. I took her for a spin and was only happy in fourth at 3500.

Hi lads, you are not on your own. I find your debates on the engineering factors ( to do or not to do ) very interesting. Though not really participating in the thread I am taking notes. We had an off 2years back on R6 IOM and the rear shock ripped from the mounts and a buddy 35 years back on ypvs rear shock top brace bent under race conditions. So I understand your concerns and am particularly interested in rear end modifications and the engineering thought process behind it. Manufacturers are still trying to get it right. We will get there and have fun doing so. Enjoy your projects.

Agree with Iwantalc. Low miles/ matching numbers keep standard. Anything else and the possibilities are as great as the dept of your wallet. You will get great ideas looking at finished bikes on here and sound advice. Welcome.

Love the bike and the build quality. What pipes are you running and jet size? Congratulations on your detail to the finish. What premix?

Yes, he is back on bike again at 56. Not as fast. He bottomed out going over a hill at speed and the accident report indicated rust on the inside of the frame member supporting the rear shock causing it to partially bend at the drain hole and the rest is history. Something I am always conscious of when on a rebuild or buying a bike. Lift the saddle, get down on your knees, whatever it takes check it out. Can be a costly fix.

In all my years in bikes, the only one worth having is the one you rebuild yourself or buy from new. It's bad form finding hidden botch jobs. Watch out for the ones that could kill you. With the YPVS the frame cross member that supports the top of the rear shock has a pin hole for moisture drainage and when that gets blocked CAN cause the frame to rust internally. This particular flaw resulted in one of my friends spending 2 years in a wheelchair. If you are having your frame powder coated on return make sure that hole is clear or plug it before work is carried out. If you intend to act the teenager then consider bracing that part of the frame. Toonraider am sorry for your troubles but better for you to find out now and put this one in the book of life experiences. Keep your real friends close. Cheers.

Check out my black N1 in finished restorations. Only difference I can see is front break upgrade to triumph calipers. Seller doesn't state if matching numbers. Could be a half and half.? If genuine it's a good buy.

Could rename it Kawa Siki . I like the cruising front peg mod. A lot of work gone into this project. Shame it's still a project.

This bike is so futuristic in build quality. If Carlsberg were to start making bikes they would copy this one. Amazing machine. My hats off to you on this one.

Hi, was at the event myself. The village of Dunboyne in County Meath. Festival of speed for classic cars and bikes. They close the roads around the village for the day and under controlled conditions speed around the circuit for the day. A lot of old tzs, plenty of noise and smoke.

I run a race team (r6) so might have an entry for the NW next year. Just finished IOM Manx newcomers with top ten finish . No race plans as of yet. Had Vinny Brennan ride this year. Bought the r6 from Tim Martin. (Martrain) x Dean Harrison machine. Will be at several events north and south so just have to meet up.
