Was just thinking. Has this got anything to do with the new law?
They can't charge you anymore for a renewal than they can for a new customer, so they just put all the prices up?

one big driver on costs is the electric cars as well, claims because of fires in garages that then burn the house down are on the rise, it actually costs more to insure your electric car if you put it in the garage over night and charge it ! - plus all these "keyless" stupid cars which are a peice of pish to steal - bleeding modern rubbish made by idiots who think electronic gizmo's are unfallible I was told that saying you put your car in the garage rather than leaving it on the street puts insurance up on any car. It would seem logical to most people that a garage is a safer place to park than out on the road but the reason is (supposedly) that a few people damage their cars while driving them into and out of the garage. I know my mates girlfriend did a lot of damage to his Opel Manta just driving it out of a garage.

My excuse was it was New Year’s Day 21:00 hours and a guy came to buy my lc and i was pished I sold it thought £1000 with spare engine it was the nineties This guys girlfriend was driving the immaculate white Manta out of his Grandads garage when she put a small scrape on the front wing, obviously started to turn too early. His Grandad then advised she should just carry on seeing as she had already damaged it so she continued the scrape onto the door as well. My mate was not too pleased with either of them. I damaged my lads garage door reversing his Astra estate up to the outside of it. It has reversing sensors like mine but as soon as the noise goes continuous the towing hitch has already hit the door and pushed it in.

I do remember an advert stating if you want to go into the outback, choose a Landrover. If you want to come back, choose a Toyota. Smart. The outback is full of Landcruisers... the yuppy parts of the cities are full of LandRovers (and Rangies)... Go figure We still get the 70 and 80 series Landcruisers here, they are the 'last of the V8s...'... I picked up a hitch hiker from New Zealand who was exploring Scotland and as part of our conversation he told me that on his station back home on the South Island he had a 5 litre diesel Nissan Patrol which he informed me had pulled a broken down road train with about three trailers (unladen..) about 5 miles back to the ranch... no way of knowing the truth but sounded impressive.. marti
