Hi Forum, A quick update on the 350LC.
Wheels painted up with satin black, polished rims and spokes cleaned back to the alloy (not polished) and back in the bike. Rear brake plate and cush drive also painted in satin black, rear brake cleaned out and brake surface freshened up a bit with some 600 grit paper, shoes (new). Front brake calipers removed and striped as they were very poor (wooden feel), pistons & seals out (new kits from Norbo on way in post). Cleaned out seal recesses and painted up in satin HT paint, New pads also from Norbo on way.
New Athena head gasket has arrived, but not had chance to get to the Head yet, getting the brakes all back on first, so hope to get the head off at the weekend.
Further update will follow.
Cheers Nick

Hi Forum, A quick update on My 350LC.
I rebuilt the front brake calipers with pistons, seal kits and pads from Norbo, bleed up and feels so much better already amazing how siezed slider pins can make them feel wooden. Head came off last weekend, checked surfaces of the head and barrels for discrepancies, flatness and alignment..... all was well apart from some rust type staining from the rear coolant fitting!!
I prepped the surfaces of the head, barrels and coolant fitting, by carefully getting rid of any traces of the old gaskets with a blade and then with some 800 wet n dry with parafin. Cleaned with brake cleaner, sprayed the Athena head gasket with the suggested Permatex and fitted it. Torqued straight to 20ft/lbs /without coolant, ran it up until the head and barrels were hot enough ..... Let it cool down fully, Re-torqued to 20ft/lbs then added the coolant.
I also removed the carbs to check jetting, 220 mains, Y231 needles (3rd clip position) and 27.5 pilots took for a quick road test to try it out pulls well and checked the head gasket on return after cooling down and the leak has been rectified.
I do have a blow on the LHS exhaust header to fix though, strange one as the internal boss on the exhaust that the gasket fits over is missing on that pipe? (any advice to get it to seal) other wise it's nearly there ready for use in the Spring.
Many Many thanks for the valuable advise given to me from the Forum members to rectify the Head Gasket leak ..... always ask the subject matter experts, who are here.
Great site and forum, keep up the good work.
Best Regards Nick

Hi Stusco, Thanks for the reply.
Both cylinders and pipes are 81 (exhausts have the reinforcing at the collar. Looking at the 81 exhaust pic above, the protruding boss on the inside of the flange is missing on my LHS pipe ..... ie its flat like the 80 model pipe pic?

Is it not like a split tube in the bore or am remembering wrong? Maybe it been pushed in or missing you would need both pipes off to see I would wait on someone with better knowledge rdlccrazy.proboards.com/post/431407/thread

Thanks Steve, a good idea as the collar looks to bottom on the cylinder before clamping the gasket.

Hi Forum,
Update on 350lc, The coat hanger trick worked on the exhaust header a treat .... Thanks for the advice. Road tested and slight adjustment of pilot air screws to 1 3/4 out with the 27.5 pilot jets seemed to work well.
