Just to prove my 'herbal' tea was merely a double espresso (tea...yuck) here is an enlarged and cropped pic. You can see the birdy on top of the chimney. WTF is it? Alex

Just watched yesterday's video with the nest's progress. They are so conscientious and clever.
Think we have a young magpie visiting alongside an adult. There have been two visiting for a year but recently one has been missing so I am guessing there has been a nest. The young one makes a screeching noise, they fly off to a tree in the distance.

I had a job yesterday fixing a garden fence. This involved a bot of digging. I swear my little Robin is back. I'd dig the earth up, he'd grab the worms then land on the spade handle and look at me as if saying 'well, get one with it then'...

She's laid her first egg this morning. She'll be popping out one a day for the next 10-12 days or so.

I'm on holiday in Whitby at the moment, so I haven't got as much time to go through the footage, You don't see the egg much because she covers it up before she goes out for the day, and I haven't seen the one she was supposed to have laid this morning.

Let me know if you see anything interesting. I will, nothing just now, the quality is pretty good. Can see the fluff over the egg. Funnily enough, the nest has been empty every time I look in. I expect that to change shortly. Enjoy Whitby 👍

I expect that to change shortly. Enjoy Whitby 👍 At the moment she's in the box mostly from about 7.30pm to 7.30am, with the occasional daytime visit to top up the fluff. The eggs are difficult to see because she carefully covers them up before she leaves the nest. She'll spend more time in the nest once all the eggs are laid, and of course it'll all be kicking off in about 3 weeks when they start hatching.

Also looked as though there was at least another egg early today but the covering dies make them hard to make out with any certainty. Nothing there just now. 👍

Yeah, the camera is terrible at night. It's not great during the day either TBH. It seems to have got worse today and I'm not sure why. I'm currently fiddling with a few things.

This is just now, sat down and breathing heavily. Doesn't look like the same bird. 😮 Sure it will be though.

She fluffs right up when she's kipping in there at night, which is why she looks different. Got this shot of the eggs this morning. There's 8 now, so it must only be 2 or 3 weeks until they start hatching. She's spending more time on the nest now, and Mr. Beak is bringing her some nice tasty insects to keep her strength up. It can't be easy blasting out your body weight in eggs over the course of a couple of weeks.

I'm glad you guys like the cam. She's so cute and I love watching her - I have it on my PC while I work. My wife is a teacher and puts it on for her class and I like to think it's giving them an enthusiasm for wildlife. I'm really going to miss her when the beaklets have grown up and they have all flown the nest.

Just to mention the crows above, they have built a new nest in a tree just next to the one last year, they apparently do not use the same nest but choose nearby. Seems to be Mr who stays in the nest, Mrs flies about and hides food as they do. However, Mr does come down to see us and grabs bits to eat really fast before flying back up, he will have his hands full. All the previous young have been encouraged to move on, there is just one who is the smallest which we see at times, bit of a shame not to see them all. One was a bit of a bully though, often had the smaller ones on their backs trying to get their food. Sorry, no pics of the nest, it's very high up and I am not climbing up there, probably get swooped on if I tried 😂
