Who the f**k would message you and tell you that you are posting too many pics ?? Unbelievable !! That's part of what makes this forum so great - the fact you have taken the time and effort to document your build in such great detail, both for our enjoyment and for reference for anyone wishing to follow suit. The vast majority of guys will thank you for such an in depth thread - we can all benefit from threads like this. You are doing an awesome job of a comprehensive build on an iconic Yamaha stroker - just what we need - so keep loading as many pics as you can and please the majority, not the one knob 'ed who is obviously consumed with envy and jealousy !! Brilliant build Dusty I'm so with Dusty on this. Just ignore any negative comments and PM's Trent- you restoration is fantastic, post as many pictures as you can. Really enjoying all the detail in this thread, super work so far.
When I built the three cylinder LC, I had messages telling me it was not how Yamaha intended the bike to be, and it will never work! I've had the same thing with the 4 cylinder LC as well as telling me I'm repeating the 3 cylinder bike with just an extra cylinder!!
Good to see you posting again Mark. I bet all the negativity doesn't come from regular posters

Not enough pics I reckon . Seriously, keep them coming. The 500 has always been a dream bike of mine and it's great to see one being reborn. Alex

The gall of someone to sit and write a message to tell someone they dont like what they are doing as a project is just beyond me. Like their opinion matters... sigh. Keep em coming Trent, loving this resto. getting me excited to do mine.

When this is all done and dusted if you want I'll send it to you. You could then reference it as and when you like.....

OK a bit more progress. The lower exhausts have finally gone into paint after being worked on. RH was good but LH one had a ding under the footpeg area, He'd seen this on his old one which is strange! My guy said the metal is too thick here to slide hammer it so he lead filled it. He explained its same technique as body leading that he uses on tanks as well instead of filler. Body lead has a high softening Temp, far higher than the expansion chambers can get to. Looks like it worked perfectly and finished off with Hi Temp Satin Paint for that OEM finish.Uppers will need a lot more work due to pitting in the chrome heat guards.

OK Lower exhausts fitted while uppers are still being worked on....If work on the uppers keeps progressing an engine start could be a possibility this weekend!! Damaged LH Pipe now looks perfect.....
