Yep painful barely describes it. Although the engine will have a 3 year warranty. 🙄

Oh no mate! Really sorry to hear this. One good thing...with that warranty you can thrash the nuts off it.

Not good, but upside is once it's rebuilt it'll be pretty much bulletproof.
Powers top hat liner the cylinders on all their rebuilds , a slipped liner will kill a motor, so that's a huge benefit, mine are standard so hoping fingers crossed they stay in place.
A nice cam change may be welcomed with a bit more lift and duration, the one in it may be worn depending on miles covered, can really wake the engine up for relatively little outlay cost wise.
Rear screens can be replaced pretty cheaply, and even in situ, so no need to faff about taking the rear section off.
Guess it's down to man maths , is it a keeper, how much cost to rebuild price ratio it is , and how to hid that from the missus.
Sunny day with the roof off and your howling down the road makes all the troubles seem to fade away though.

Oh completely rigga. Dom have me a call and I popped in to see him. He showed me the damage and he feels it’s unlikely that the seller didn’t know but I’ll never prove anything so I’ve taken it on the chin. Top hat liners are being fitted, he is also going to pep it up a little. I love driving it, it’s such a visceral car so I’m thinking I will keep it. Could have done without the hassle and the cost, and I regret not sending it straight to him for a once over when I bought it. However it’s where I am, and as the wife said, compared to her and the lads horses it’s not that expensive 😁

Thats good of your good lady Tim, she recognises that paying for this is something you'd rather not be doing and has supported you, thats gold.

Update it is as expensive as the horses. The final bill is over £12000. 😢 Basically it had dropped a liner and let water in to a bore. It’s had new hoses, radiator, cam, top hat liners, clutch etc etc etc etc I’ve paid but not collected it yet. It will however have a 3 year warranty on the work, incl the engine. I’m now in two minds as what to do with it. Sell or keep it. I won’t get back what it has cost me, over £30k and I’ve still got to get the rear screen repaired. Feckin money pit. Just want to say thanks to rigga as he offered some wise words when I got the bill. V much appreciated buddy. 👍

Holy shit! That's almost 2 Loras. I'd keep her for now Tim. Classic sales are usually a bit stagnant this time of the year. Get the window done and go out and rag the f**k out of her as you know that lump has a 3 year warranty. Maybe think about selling in the summer but by then I bet you won't want to.

Im with Alex on this, no sense selling now in the winter and youve a warranty now, so get out and enjoy it this summer and think about selling some time down the line. See if you can enjoy it a bit first

I couldn't process that unless I was going to get some use out of it
Keep it a year, get some miles on it then asses the situation
If you bond with it and love it then keep it knowing it's mechanically sound
If not it will sell well given it's done some miles since the rebuild and still got 2 years warranty so piece of mind for the new owner

Tim, can we have some pics of it before its sold? im sure you'll do some for the ad? I’m going to get some new ones done. I’ll post asap Jon. I do want to try to use it as I reckon this’ll be the last proper manual car I have. I’m currently strapped up on the knee, got a proper Velcro and articulated knee strap.

Electric car for me is a no no & had a Lexus is300 for 120k miles which was let's say rather dull..
