Can't use the Tuono shock as bottom can't be enlarged enuff without weakening the outer too much I'll put it back on eBay. Thinking the 99-2001 R6 shock is the way forward now. Just needs that little bit removed from the shock top mount on the frame to clear the bolt on the remote reservoir apparently. Back to eBay it is then ! Lol on the up side, got the front end back from Stinkwheels today. It looks fantastic !!!!

bugger.............small issue with the Tuono shock not fitting, bottom bolt/hole arrangement not good, so need to find another any ideas please ? If it's just a matter of opening up the bolt hole ih the shock there is a small engineering firm it Tonbridge that will do it for about a tenner. Every conversion I have seen uses the RGV linkage and either a conversion kit if you don't want to muck about with the frame or new mounting brackets welded on, as I did. There is an optimum distance down and out from the centre of the swing arm spindle to ensure correct operation of the swing arm, on the bottom mount. Does the swing arm have full range of movement with the 31K linkage & still allow the shock to be fitted without fouling. R6 shocks fit, I used the one with the fork bottom mount for the RGV linkage but some years use an eye bottom mount like the 31K shock Sorry I can't be of more help. I bought my chasis already converted but I'm sure it is the 31K linkage with new dogbones made to the right legnth ( rear is jacked up). RD shock fits no problem but have upgraded to a Hagon shock, at least you know the spring and damping rates are right. If I remember right the chain has to be about 4 links longer as well as VJ22 arm is longer. Steve.

thanks for all the advice guys Stinkwheels/Gibsons have done the rear end conversion so I'm sure it all works, they have 2 bikes with the early R6 shock in which is apparently 5mm longer than the ypvs one and apparently works well

If you cant open up the hole on the Tuono shock you could use the size bolt that fits the shock and bush the other part down to fit the bolt. Just an idea seeing as you already have the shock.
