This is the thing , Yambits to a newcomer will look the all singing dancing place to get parts from This is why I think that there should be a 'sticky' thread on here that lists all the dodgy parts that folk have bought/had experience with from them already. How's any newcomer going to know otherwise?

Hopefully you do a quality Jap water pump seal 😉 We offer 2 a budget one and a Jap ARS one, importantly they budget one has the correct stainless steel garter springs as they should be

Remember the YPVS OEMs are much cheaper in the USA as they fit the 'shee. enough cheaper that if you bought a bunch (how many projects do you have?) you could save quite a bit against new in uk OEMs even with post and taxes if you got a good deal.
Im sure I remember Dave saying that the OEMs have teflon lips or something, you would want to make sure any aftermarket ones had a smiliar spec.
OEM is ARS as has been said. Yambits ones are just ARSE.

Wonder if the seal was out of one of the Yambits kits, their crank seals are now described as made by ARS

I have had some issues with Yambits, someone earlier asked why they are in business... for me, I am located in the US so have limited options. There are basically 3 places apart form Yamaha dealers, Yambits, MBD and Norbo. Here's my take, MBD seemed to grow quickly, I checked a few months ago and they had a great user friendly website with a decent selection of parts. Yambits have a great website with good e-commerce and quick shipping. Norbo has nice pictures but ordering, especially from overseas is a nightmare, write a list, type the list in an email pay for parts and add 10% for paypal before getting shipping costs and then having to do a second payment, print the paperwork etc. etc. So, I have bought from Norbo for my previous restoration, met the guy and know he is a genuine enthusiast who sells good parts. But.... I fell into the Yambits "easy to buy" trap and bought a bunch of stuff from them.. their bars didn't fit, some of the repro parts quality is crap etc. etc. I email them and get a quick polite reply basically telling me I am S.O.L. I replaced the parts from Norbo without issue.. I would have tried MBD for some parts as their site was pretty good but not sure why it all disappeared? I am sure if he wanted to, Norbo could significantly increase his business simply by having a better more user friendly website and ordering process, it would probably make his work life a hell of a lot easier too! (I know, people have been saying this for years!) Oh well, back to building the bike!!

As above, I’m in the states, and LC parts, and parts sources are next to nonexistent here.
I bought and fitted a Shambits crankseal kit about a year ago.
Then heard the horror stories on here, so I sourced genuine Yam seals in proper Yam packaging
Stripped the bottom end to bits again only to find the Shambits and OEM seals were exactly the same. Same maker’s marks and branding, etc.
Their throttle cables are deffo shit tho.

Maybe they fixed the crank seal...but any responsible supplier would make a notification of the change and essentially send a recall notice to all those they had sold to...

After all these years of complaints about crank seals has anyone actually contacted them,I see on their website the only way to contact is by email,I’m sure someone must have kicked their door down with a blown engine, asking for money back as compensation surely?..

I'm sure I read a long time ago about someone who tried and got nowhere
They may have sourced a better high quality seal now but what about all the ones that were sold and not used immediately or passed on
How many engines from slow restorations have a time bomb in them
This bike was sold as restored and unfortunately the new owner got stuck with sorting this

That's the thing. With all the fake stuff going around if the used an ARS seal to make the mold...

I have no idea how much this would cost or how more complex that would be to do but the majority of websites/businesses run like that, why can't his? It does seem to be a bit daft, it's like he's half way there already, he's got a website, why not take the next step??

As far as norbos web site goes it's up to him how he runs it ,mainly folks off the forum are his customers and that's most probably how he wants it,almost like a dickhead filter 👍

What really really grips my sh#t is they know they know they are crap and yet they still keep selling them how the hell is that an enthusiast? If norbs had sold them he’d have withdrawn them immediately, that’s why I have never and will never give them a penny. Totally agree with that comment! Would never use them again.
