A mate of mine probably six years ago bought a 31k spent a lot of money doing a real good thorough refurb as he had always wanted one back in his youth. Rode it a few times and sold as it did not match what he was expecting. His other bike was a brand new BMW Sport thingy with under seat pipes. I said to him then ride and enjoy The 31k and appreciate it for what it was but he couldn’t and sold it anyway

I'd say that also applies to an RD350LC to be honest, far too many folk are in it for the money/investment angle rather than the riding/enjoyment aspect. I think there are some to be sure, but I think the vast majority of everyone I've ever met out riding 350's or at things like the NERDOC rally, etc, have been proper LC enthusiasts. I think the 500s are a bit more niche and probably invite more speculation.

Wow, this 'for resto' 500 sold for north of A$13k this week. Id have said that was more like a 8-9k bike. but i must be living in the past... I can only assume that prices look to be on the move again as you couldnt do all the work needed on this one and come out ahead of a nice one unless the top end has gone upwards. :/ Its not always easy to tell what prices are here as so few get sold usually, but i expect to see more full resto bikes now at $30+K. We have had some high 20s bikes advertised as full restos with Chinese fairings with the wrong blue, they seem to sell but no idea of the price. makes you wonder what one thats been enthusiast done and has redone OEM bodywork one would be worth, but has to be 30+ now as painting one is over $4k if done by a good paint shop in Sydney. www.ebay.com.au/itm/Yamaha-RZ500-/363393054980?ul_noapp=true&autorefresh=true&nma=true&si=OOSmOfLoPIY8NMZNWrpoz2PDg8Y%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557(pretty must its 'halve the dollar price for pounds' still)

General ban won’t happen in a general sense in the uk... The only positive aspect of implementing such policy is an improvement in inner city air quality.,outside of inner cities it’s meaningless. Wood burners and open fires are by far the biggest ‘problem’ but can anyone really see those being banned anytime soon? Wether we can a general ban for emitting vehicles in london etc is different topic. I can see general ban coming sooner or later but with licensed exceptions for events...to allow the london to Brighton rally .... Our motoring heritage and related business are too valuable to just wipe out with a pen stroke....and no practical or economic benefits.

That RZ is a joke at 15K. Looks like a right bag o shite! Yes... that chain is pretty indicative of what else may have happened to that poor bike.😲 '$700 just to have the crank balanced'... somebody certainly saw him coming.🤣🤣🤣

My first LC that I got new got nicked, as did the 7/11 GSXR I built , then a couple of the ex`s bikes. Still paranoid about theft, it puts me off using the bikes. My current road LC has a slightly scruffy plain white tank and un painted black new side panels, but is mechanically sound, every engine and chassis bearing replaced, crank done and fresh re-lined barrels, and is currently insured as £5K. Need to sort out insurance value when its renewal time.

I have a Candy Blue UK matching numbers 4LO. Not mint but not far off. I bought a Z900RS Cafe a few weeks ago and part exchanged a Tiger Explorer for it. The dealer came to deliver the bike and collect the Triumph. Once I opened the garage to get the Triumph out he asked what was lurking under the covers next to it. I pulled them off and his jaw nearly cracked the floor. He offered me £10k there and then for it. WTF? I bought it as is 10 years ago for £3500!
Needless to say the 'agreed value' with Peter James insurance will be increased from it's current £6500.

I’ve just sold a ratty UK model Kawasaki S1A 250 on Facebook to a dealer unseen, when the courier came to collect the bike he was collecting a further 3 Kawasaki triples on his journey and they were all going back to Japan. Apparently they are paying silly money for Jap classics now and this guy is paying a fare price for them here to ship them over.

Apparently they are paying silly money for Jap classics now and this guy is paying a fare price for them here to ship them over. I've heard that too, people shipping decent bikes back to Japan. I occasionally used to buy them at an auction in Japan but in the last few years they've been rough, my suspicion is that they were mainly written off bikes in Japan that couldn't be put back on the road there for whatever reason, it wasn't always obvious but my mates brother lives there and he knows what he's looking at, and a proper inspection would see bent frames, bent forks, frame numbers ground off, or even just totally uneconomical bikes that would cost more to fix than they're worth. I'd be cautious about buying a bike bought in from Japan now, because if the Japs don't want it then something is wrong with it.
