Stroopwafel are well worth seeking out. But I think the ultimate accompaniment to a cuppa is fish and chips... done in beef dripping... and a barm cake en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StroopwafelStroopwaffells are supposed to be eaten by dunking them in your coffee or resting over a hot mug of coffee so the caramel melts. Mug of tea for chips. We’ve a new chippie near us called the cods scallops proper old school chippie with bits and chips cooked in dripping www.codsscallops.com/Yes, they are a coffee biscuit. I don't drink a lot of "ordinary" tea. I like many of the China tea types like oolong and jasmine, sencha and gunpowder. (Gunpowder is a bit like making tea in an ash tray and drinking it.....I like it though)

Ahh now were onto chips... and with the thought of a waffle over me coffee (will defo do that this week, they sell em here) Im now thinking of what goes best on chips.... As a lapsed Brit I struggle to get past the old S&V, but as an Aussie I'd have to say Chicken Salt (its a real thing!) as a base but then all those years in Amsterdam comes back to me and I have to have Sate Sauce. I found a recipe years ago that is superb and easy to make, happy days.

I can feel a chippy tea coming on 😱

I used to love it, but it always did me in at the end of a night out...er, wasnt the booze... was it?! It was never the booze... bad packet of crisps or a rank pie. Don't remember it being green? Sounds like a definite spew and soiling session after eating something green... My old fella once worked in a famous Northwest pie factory (their pies and puds can be had in many Lancs chippies) He was watching an old geezer cutting up meat pieces by hand, when all of a sudden he had a coughing fit.... and hockled up a huge greenie (Piece of phlegm the size of a large oyster) onto the pile of cut up meat... he just carried on cutting.... and carried on smoking. It was a few yrs ago. Enjoy your *******s pie

It didn't make me ill as such, but it turned EVERYTHING green for about 3 days! I thought I was turning into a skinny hulk!

As I’m originally from Gloucestershire, my favourite treat with a cuppa is a warm dripper, fruit or plain, the smell and the taste takes me right back to my childhood! Those that know, know! 😊

Sainsbury’s Oaty Rounds. Far superior to hobnobs and about 45p a packet which appeals to my Northern sensibilities.
I can easily machine gun an entire packet with a couple of cups of tea.

Lidl's Oaties I've been having for a few years now, similar price etc etc. I actually prefer either of them to hobnobs now, same with their loaves of sliced brown bread for example, the likes of Kingsmill have become too expensive,...if you add up the price difference over say a year, the savings are considerable.
