Hi all Strange question for you all please Just got my Honda 400/4 project bike tonight thanks again to Mike for a great delivery serviceđź‘Ť One thing I really want to do it upgrade the front to a more modern Honda twin disc setup as the original was poor at best The original 400/4 wheel hub looks to be able to be fitted with twin discsđź‘Ť and the fork diameter for the 400/4 is 33mm, and I see the Honda CB 400N is the same but wondered if anybody had a 400N or can access one and could measure the distance from the centre of the spindle hole to the fork tube top and tell me what it is so I can compare the extended length of a CB400N fork with the originals CB400/4 units And if it is similar then I know I can then start to see if I can then source a set of CB400N forks and callipers for the upgrade and keep the Honda look I know is a bit of a long shot question but thought I would at least ask Many thanks to all in advance Best wishes Al

Al could you not get the front end from a more modern retro honda cb400? From memory the 400n front end ain’t all that.

Hi veg
Yes the CB400N front end is not that modern but better than the original single piston pivot type calliper set up
Don’t want to go too modern to try and keep a period look but the problem with the original sliders there are no proper lugs to hang an alternative calliper from hence idea to fit CB400N forks even if I fit a set of modern callipers
Just started to look at options tonight to see what may be available
Best wishes Al

250 / 400 superdream forks and wheels should bolt straight on. I ran them on one of my 400/4s. Or maybe a G5 (it's the same front end) I ran the comstars though, so I'm not sure about disk offset, and if you could get away with the original spoked wheel, without mods.
One thing is certain, anything will be better than the Honda swinging calliper carry on.

Hmm. You all know I love a hybrid but a 400/4? Can you not keep it standard but just improve that one front disc? Modern pads are way better today and maybe a new disc and a master cylinder upgrade or overhaul would help. But...I really don't think a twin disc set up from a Wet Dream is going to help at all lol.

Hi guys thank for the input and ideas
Defiantly want to keep the front wheel standard and just improve the brake set up without moving too far away from the original looks
Maybe as a compromise just go for a 250N single disc set of forks with a single calliper and modern pads and disk so it not too far away from standard but with a better brake design
Again thanks for the input
Best wishes Al
