I recently found a filofax from when i was a teen and it has the date and info of my first RD125lc i bought from Spon gate motorcycles in Coventry December 1990.. 30 years Ago..wow Paid 300 quid as it was a bit ruff(only 4 years old) and i had to push it 2 miles home as the chain and sprockets were shagged. Black one regd D582DMV The best bike i ever had.. I did some miles on it,crashed it, blew it up.. but loved that wee bike. sold it a year later to get a DTR125
As you do at my age ive bought 2 and have them i boxes to restore.. One will be mint as factory spec and the other with all the old school mods..
When i get round to doing them...........

Spon gate motorcycle takes me back, Ken Bromley was the owner from memory. Bought a few bikes from him over the years when he was just off Melbourne road. I grew up in earlsdon. Worked at Coventry Kawasaki, frettons, Albany superbike. Small world. 1990 I was working at J&S in Birmingham.

He quite often had interesting bikes for sale back in the day. I was doing an apprenticeship at Godfrey hall BMW then.

I always got ken to mot my lc’s incl my last hybrid. I was there in 1989-1990, Hollyhead road. The bike mechanic was John Brownlow,Very dry type but sound all the same and a good mechanic. The sales guy in bikes was the nephew of godfrey.. Did Feck all but had the crack now and then. Godfrey was bonking his gorgeous secretary and his wife(mutton dressed up as lamb) would blast in and out in her 911. And he was racing in the british touring car chapionship then.. had 2 race M3 e30´s in the bottom end of the showroom, stashed away. John.
