Hi all,
just starting the rebuild of my 350 LC and i have a question about the way the steering head bearings need to be fitted. i went for the standard flat bearings instead of tapered ones as i have heard that with the tapered ones you end up a little tight for thread at the top!
Any way i have the standard flat bearings, and they are in three parts each. if you look at them from the side, there is a bottom race, then the balls in a cage and a top race. looking at the two races, one of the races is thicker that the other on both sets, so my question is which way round do these fit please, thickest or thinnest race tapped into the frame first for the top and bottom set?
Many thanks in advance all....

Hi I fitted a All Balls taper type with no issue as was not happy with the Yamaha set up but that’s just my personal choice But I also thought the standard Yamaha head bearing had no cage as the bearing was a full compliment type for maximum ball contact without a cage like the yambits part photo below No doubt others will be able to advise too Best wishes Al
