Initially I ordered the fan type 9003 LED replacement bulb ( silver one in the picture) and installed it in my 75 RD350 with aftermarket EMGO replacement headlight bucket from Economy Cycle. It works perfect. I figured it would be even easier on the RZ since there are a lot less wires in the bucket. But I was wrong and the fan type bulb struck the back of the bucket. So I ordered the fanless LED. Both pairs of bulbs were around $20 shipped. The fanless bulb just fits with careful wire arrangement. I test rode both bikes for 30 minutes and all is well. The lights are very bright. I had some concerns about heat in the fanless bulb but the heat sink was barely warm after 30 minutes of operation so I think it will be fine.

The other thing to bear in mind when using an LED in an old style headlight is the beam pattern that's produced, the reflector wasn't designed to be used with an LED. It maybe a brighter light but the actual area lit could be worse,....here in the UK, it could fail the MOT test for example too.

I haven't ridden at night with either of them. (I am 62 and don't see as well as I once did so I rarely do on purpose) The beam pattern appears to be right as best I can tell. The high beam is up and slightly left and low beam down and slightly right. My Japanese bikes all have antique tags so no inspection is required. Here they would likely see a brighter light as a plus on a bike, but I have heard of cars failing inspection for after market headlights being too bright.

I am a fan of fanless too. They last long. I even used the yellow French glass. No issues with overheating. The beams are quite sharp. So i dont blind people. My bikes is all with leds. From the blinkers to instrument. Never gonna use bulbs anymore on my bikes.

A previous owner of my bike did fit a plug in LED replacement for the front parking/side light bulb, I do like that,....anyone recommend an LED replacement for the twin filament brake/tail bulb?
