Hi I have a german aircooled 250 frame sat in the shed that I plan on doing something with. Alex on this forum gave it to me last year. It's a standard 250d frame in really nice condition - frame number and German vin plate are intact and matching. But, there is no paperwork with it, so I need to get a Nova. I have registered on the Gateway Portal, but have come to the part where they want details of where it's come from. I've read all sorts on this issue in the past and just need some guidance as to my next step, as I don't want to make an irreversible error. This frame has no log book, and obviously been in the country for years already, so I may need to be creative with the application ? Any pointers would be good. It's in such great condition I want to use it and ultimately get a Uk registration on it. Thanks Dusty

You need to state which country it came from but then again they have no real way of proving it
You will need a name and address for who you bought it off so hopefully you know someone who lives in the eu who you can say it came from
If stuck talk to kopite or Dejan for someone who sells stuff from the eu
When it comes to the reipt bit don't mention a frame only and just select the no receipt option (something like that from memory) And simply state in the box private cash sale, no receipt given
I did this with one I got from Dejan without a receipt (as receipt stated frame/cases)
Once submitted I had an email shortly afterwards saying it was ok and a nova reference number

Cheers Steve That's helpful, thanks I know it's a German 250D frame. I don't know anyone living in the EU unfortunately. I did speak to someone on the HMRC helpline, but he sounded like he was on an acid trip - no help at all and barely alive Where do they find these idiots ?? Dusty

If it came in before 2013 (and you have any way of proving that) they don’t retrospectively require a NOVA, but in my context it was for a race bike. Not sure about one that you would want to register
