I see that and didn’t know where to start🥴
Cheap rear foot pegs, decals on wonky and totally missed the silver stripe up the sides of the screen Moody brake hoses, wrong mirrors, horns, indicators etc, etc, etc
Looks good from a distance I suppose

Not hugely overpriced, got to give them that, but many on here are finished to a much higher standard. There are loads of bits non standard too. Looks nicely finished, but not one for me.

Looks tidy, nice colour scheme. The price for all models seems to be rising. To me the tank seems to sat on the frame a little high at the front Maybe the plastic coil cover is missing ?

Hmmm such a good resto he couldnt be bothered to stick on a couple of quid ignition barrel decal. lazy.
broken ignition surround on the clocks and mostly non original fasteners used. That chain is horrendous.
Probably is 'museum quality', but more like a museum of horrors than beautiful original bikes.

However if you don’t know what you’re buying you’d think you got a good deal.

May not be a perfect concourse resto, I don’t know enough about the different models to be able to tell.... but still a lot of effort gone into it, mostly to what looks like a high standard... It is an LC2 31k isn’t it ?

86 model, its a Japanese Import, you can tell by the red warning zone above 80 km/h
I know the Jap bikes had rectangular mirrors on some of them, however those are not genuine yamaha
Why not use new end caps on the rear suspension H link, and yes that chain, why!!!
Unless the speedo drive has been changed to an MPH one, its only done 219 kms since the clocks were wound back
For 12k Aud, I think its overpriced by a fair margin

Its not an 86... its an LC2. Converting an 86 to earlier bodywork is not something many would do. Its either been registered as an 86 or in 86, or its got the numbers off an 86. I say its been mis registered when it was imported. Usually the UK importers registered Jap bikes as the first year the bike came out as thats what the Jap reg papers say. Ie all of a model would be the first year. They did that in the UK as you cant make a vehicle look newer than it is, and that errs on the side of caution.
Could be Jap imported, or could just be that speedo was fitted later, maybe has it had zero miles (ie nos).
I really dont see it as much of a resto to be honest, if you built a bike of that quality and posted the build up on here we'd have been advising you to make some changes for sure. Restoration is something worthy of a museum, this is just 'done up' and is a good rider imho.

It's got Jap written all over it
Red line Speedo, red frame etc
Couple of things worry me.
Was it originally a 350, most of the japs were 250
The tank is wrong in 2 ways. Jap should have the red stripe down the middle like an n1 with silver Yamaha on the side. And may just be the pic but as someone else said the tank at the front looks weird. Maybe an Indian sh1t tank. Cap facing wrong way too.
Won't start on the rest
I've sold a lot better a lot cheaper

Just sold a honest lc2 german import lc2 in black/red and i did'nt get 5k for it but i thought it was a fair price which puts this bike at £4k or slightly less in comparison there's just to much wrong with it decals/tank/fastners, nevermind what the engines like ! as said alot better about for alot less money
