Morning peeps
Just out of interest what do you guys lube your crank seals with when fitting
Over the years I've done 2 stroke oil, engine oil, lm grease and that black cv stuff I can't pronounce or spell π

+1 for two stroke oil just because you know it can't do any harm using it

I use two stoke oil, but I have also used Parker Super Lube or Molykote 111 on other builds. For example. For my big bore engine I used Molykote 111 because I knew it would be a slow build.

Black stuff, do you mena molybdenum disulfide?? I use 2 stroke oil! That stuff is called for when swapping out valve shims on my 4 stroke, well a 50/50 mix with engine oil. I dunno about using it against seals, would have thought that may not be a good idea??

Come on bare give us names, my build will particularly slow and am concerned 2 stroke oil will eventually drip off leaving it vulnerable when eventually started. 1st time builder and any advice greatly appreciated.

I use slick honey on all my seals, 2-Stroke oil is probably what I would use if I didn't have any SH

The good old Haynes manual says to pack the gap between the seal lips with grease, but does not go into any other detail. Not all that helpful but then itβs a Haynes manual πππππ
