hello all,new member here fron north east England,first of all thanks for letting me in! now ndown to the nitty gritty! ive just bought a 31k ypvs hybrid,it ran rough for 30 seconds or so when i picked it up,after a quick look over it had no vacuum pipe connected from the petrol tap to the carb,dead easy one to sort! had it running this morning and it ran ok for a couple of miniutes then died on me,ive checked and theres no spark at either plug,sidestand has been bypassed and it hasnt got a kill switch(just a bundle of wires) ive orderd a haynes but i was looking for a few pointers so i can get a start on it,many thanks

Hi Welcome to the forum Wiring sounds iffy, but the fact you have had it running means it may be a loose connection somewhere, bad earth, or the bundle of wires where the kill switch should be may have affected your spark. A decent A3, colour wiring diagram will help you a lot if the loom has been butchered - someone here may have a link to one for a 31k. Hope you get the spark back Dusty

Yes wiring sounds butchered
31k's don't have stand switches so maybe the loom isn't 31k. F2 had stand switch
Get the tank off and check the connectors and what model cdi is fitted. 29k50 is well known to have intermittent sparks

There are no fuses in the ignition cct, assuming standard Yamaha CDI etc.

thanks for the replies folks,midlifecrisisrd thats good to know about the sidestand switch,i had a quick look and couldnt see any wiring so automaticaly assumed it had been bypassed and hidden out the way!
