Some time ago I purchased Hagon Progressive Fork Springs, the standard springs measure 19 1/2" (49 CM) where the Hagon measure 20 3/4"(53cm) is it safe to presume that after 38 years wear and tear have reduced the spring lenght?
Also would it be safe to replace the spring clip with a suitable sized circlip?
Thanks for any infor
Philip

4cm seems like a bit more than normal wear/sag, have a search to see if you can find correct length (prpbably in the manual) any signs of the ends being cut when you look.
You need the spring clips as the originals sit between the cap and the fork leg, so there is a recess in the top that gets covered by the cap, they usually get wet and rust away. Couple of pence from Yamaha??

Would be interested in the outcome of this, I'm debating on what I should do with the springs in my bike.

Hagin progressive are a bit longer. I can’t remember the exact difference but I measured them against stock length and was surprised.

My Goki AirCaps came with circlips, so it is possible, but as has been said the OEM tops trap the wire clips, so you should really use the correct thing.

Yup when I fitted them they were quite a bit longer, made getting the top plug hard work.
