Contacted Suzuki for a dating letter for the Kettle
No problem sir, you can apply for a certificate of construction (dating letter) from our website
Excellent!
Fill in a form, send pics of frame and engine numbers - so far so good
Non returnable bank transfer for £95 - WTF 😭
If they don't have the data, they still keep the money 🤬
Fingers crossed

VJMC not offer a dating service? Probably 🙄 I'm also a member of the Kettle club and clinic so probably could have sorted through them Knowing how much of a pain in the ass DVLA can be I always try and stick with the manufacturer It's funny how a club cert is valid for 6 months and a manufacturer cert 12 months What's the difference and what's going to change? There is a PDF list of approved clubs on their website from which the DVLA will accept a dating certificate.

It's done now lol
It was on my list to do first thing this morning so had to get it ticked off
Suppose I'll get an exact date, model and country of original reg
Hopefully DVLA with be less like a bag of t**ts with this one. Still no v5 for the 3hm1 😖
Will soon see how they deal with a V55/5 application with a V112 instead of an mot 🤔

I had the same problem with them and my rg250. It is shocking where the s the loyalty esp when you consider you will be buying spares at vastly inflated prices from them.

Got a kick in the baws this morning
Letter from Suzuki saying that Suzuki Japan have no construction data on it due to its age so no certificate
Called Suzuki customer services in a rage as they had just ripped me off.
It's an admin fee I'm told so basically tough.
You would think on the website it would say it would be unlikely they would have any data on older stuff 🙄
I got a bit snotty and said you would think than if I and every other club know the first 5 digits of the vin are the model as in "GT750", it was made between 72 and 77 and the sixth digit is the year which is a 3 means 1973 that Suzuki would be able to put this in writing
There a pause then he says he'll contact Suzuki Classic department with the engine and frame numbers and if they can confirm they are from a 1973 GT750 he will type up a letter stating so but it won't be a certificate of construction.
ITS A BLOODY DATING LETTER, ITS WHAT I ASKED YOU FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!
IT WAS YOU THAT SAID I'D NEED A CERTIFICATE OF CONSTRUCTION!!!!
So hopefully the nice gent will get a result

And breathe buddy and breathe. The days of people working in the bike trade because they are bike enthusiasts seems to be over.

What a pain in the backside and it's really not on to take £80 for basically doing nothing. Hopefully the classic department will sort it out for you.
