I'd be interested on feedback on these too. I'm not a fan of the taper options that never sit quite right.

My worry with these is that they have less balls than OEM races. Means more weight on each ball. Thats bad, surely?

My 83 has tapered head stock bearings and haven't had an issue in 5 years
That said the I made an error in the colour of my 85's frame, had the same bearings installed and the seats in the head stock are a mongrel to get out as was the bottom race on the yolk, I had to destroy it to remove it

I usually run tapers, Ive tried quite a few brands and struggle to find good quality for sensible money. My advice is defo avoid the ones Pyramid sell.
Has anyone tried the Tourmax branded Tapers? I assume Japanese made and quality?

Good question, if/when I need a set I'd give them a go, considering that Tourmax made the fuel taps for these bikes, I bet that Yamaha would feel that their other items were up to scratch too??

The race on the yolk can be teased off with a thin chisel or a thin punch between the bearing and yolk.

Weld around the inner edge, they then just fall out, or use the weld to push/pull on (but it will come out really easily).
