Evening everyone-Another newbie here.Ive been riding bikes since I was 5 (now 42) and always loved helping older friends Autosol their 125lc’s micron forkbrace allspeeds etc BUT I missed out on owning one and went straight to 350lc and then a RGV 250.Im ashamed to say I rode both without licences as things were a little easier to get away with, same as swapping tax discs etc😂I had the choice of motorcycle test or HGV so I opted for the latter and regret it now! Anyway-the reason I’m here is for a 125lc for my son,he was 16 in June and I got him a Lambretta 50 which I deemed unfit as it was too slow,no mirrors,no indicators so I then splashed out on a Aprillia rs4 50cc(2 stroke)and we’ve had to do plenty of mods to that as it was restricted to 28 mph which is unsafe on today’s roads,I’m already looking for his next bike and he has his eyes on a KTM duke but after riding a new one they really are gutless so I thought......Let’s go old school!so hoping I can get a mk3 and prep it ready for his 17th??

I wondered who the 125 with L plates would be for,....does he know about it? Would he be happy with such an old bike or rather have the KTM I wonder??

I’m going to have to bite the bullet and take the test,I’m currently using the Lambretta with a 75cc kit on 2 up(23 stone) makes even the shortest journey a long one! He is looking at Aprillia rs 125s at the minute but I thought he can have 6 months or so on the Lc and then I can have it-win win!He loves old stuff hence the Lambretta but I had to overrule him,I want him to be safe and the Lambretta needs pushing home after most journeys!😂

Ah, so it's really for you and you still need the L plates currently too. Be interested to know if anyone is using one has their daily transport and if it's reliable. I guess like with any old vehicle, depends on how it's been restored etc.
