I, as well as most, am well aware of the problems us humans are creating for the future but....... The problem with most of these kids protesting, is that they are just as much of the problem the way THEY live their every day lives. How many of these kids (that could) walk to School instead of being taken one mile in a Gas guzzling 4x4 ?. I bet most around the world have air conditioned classrooms, the latest mobile phone, X-boxes, a TV in every room in the house they live, eat junk food on a regular basis ? bla bla bla. Just slightly hypercritical (but possibly in pure ignorance) Very well regurgitated hyperbole. I took my 10yo daughter and her friends downtown for the march last Friday. We rode the public bus there and back. We walk to school and home every day. No AC in her classroom, she wishes she had a phone and vid game but Dad says no, etc. Regardless, your post shows you’ve just been duped by the right wing corporate spin machine. Congratulations! Well aren't you just so fantastic . Problem is, whilst you're living in your little Mr Perfect Family Eco World, you're in the minority. How many other kids and families that participate in these protests live the perfect Eco life that you obviously do ?. Have a nice life........ I'm out

There is no such thing as an English man. We are a b*****d nation we are Gaelic we are Celtic we are angles and Saxons hugenouts and moors. We are represented by the commonwealth the empirical nations we subjugated we raped and we pillaged. If you look at your dna we all come from Africa. Without the poles without the Czechs etc we would never have won ww2.

Regardless of who's pulling the strings ... our oceans are full of plastic and the sky is full of (albeit less than in the past) polution. Where is the benefit of pushing back against attempts to green up? Who could possibly be against a cleaner planet?
My only assumption is that the petro-corporate fatcats have again turned the green haters against their own best interests. Convincing the gullible that the green push is just a "carbon tax grab", when it's the petroleum industry that has all the money and the most to lose.
Nothing new in that.

We are as much a b*****d nation as the rest of Europe. The sky is full of vapour trails all the time where I live, oft wonder what damage they are doing. I've never flown.. but my little RG250 was pretty quick. Easy to stop all the polluting... just all live as mankind did pre Neolithic. (Suit me fine, as long as I can have a 22lr and a few thousand rounds as a concession) Ahh a world with no morons peering into phones all day... maybe they might learn to say good morning and hello given a few hundred years. Humans have earned their future, they never f**king learn.. I do not have any time for the teenager.. I'm more of a merit sort of person, when Sir David says summats wrang.. Ever noticed that when you get off motorways, there is a pile of rubbish on the verges where you have slowed right down? That's the human race for you in a nutshell, cant throw it out at high speed. And as for the "press feeding shite" I don't even believe the f**king date at the top of any arsewipe paper...

We are all descended from our earth mother, Lucy. Africa. Still makes me wonder why we have racism when we are all from the same original seed of life. As for global cooling/warming. The earth is at the end of an ice age. This is what happens.

Hi, What I don't understand is..... it is no secret, and is easy to find the info, that the amount of aeroplanes in the sky is going to increase tenfold by 2030 or so. I understand that most jet airliners etc use "high by pass" turbines these days, which means most of the thrust comes from a big fan, and not the thrust from the burning fuel, but they still spew out lots of crud. I don't imagine they are going to invent anything in the next ten years or so, that will stop aeroplanes spewing out at least some crud. So how can we reduce emissions, when we are going to be doubling or more, the amount of aeroplanes in the worlds sky's ? The needs of modern life for electricity and travel are not going to change. We need efficient plant friendly solutions. Solar & wind power to generate electricity might not be palatable to the bean counters. Precious metals need to be recycled until alternative solutions can be innovated. The days of the internal combustion engine as we know it are numbered. Kill the plant we kill the human race (eventually).

On about trees and plants , have you noticed when a young couple move into a house (not new build) they strip their whole gardens of anything living !
Font gardens maybe as parking can be a problem but why not have the rear garden as a little Oasis

Punk Band Minor Threat did a great tune
These are the lyrics
Guilty of Being White Minor Threat
I'm sorry For something that I didn't do Lynched somebody But I don't know who You blame me for slavery A hundred years before I was born
Guilty of being white
I'm sorry For something that I didn't do Lynched somebody But I don't know who You blame me for slavery A hundred years before I was born
Guilty of being white
I'm a convict (Guilty!) Of a racist crime (Guilty!) I've only served (Guilty!) Nineteen years of my time ( EDIT age of singer at the time )
I'm sorry For something that I didn't do Lynched somebody But I don't know who You blame me for slavery A hundred years before I was born
Guilty of being white

I don't believe that anyone is threatened by this child, but I think many think it's a bit sick to be using an autistic girl to push your agenda - is Trump going to wheel out a disabled kid to prove he's right as well?
I watched a Louis Theroux documentary once with some evangelical preacher in the USA that had his autistic kid doing fire & brimstone sermons, the kid was clearly brainwashed into believing the end of the world was near and he was ranting and crying in the pulpit just like Greta. It was sickening to watch. When Louis asked the kid a question he clammed up and looked like he was about to meltdown, just like Greta did at that press conference where she couldn't answer a basic question. The poor kid has been put into a terrifying position by puppetmasters just to push their own agenda.
Greta is an autistic kid without the coping mechanisms to deal with the world press, she's been used as a pawn in a cash/power grabbing game. It's nothing more than political games, but what is sad to watch is all the people around the world who feel hard done by have jumped at it because they think it's a way to get back at rich people.
I totally believe in less pollution and less plastic in the oceans, etc, but as soon as you turn it into left vs right it just turns into a game and no one wins.
Not to mention, most people on this thread have spent five figures on two stroke motorcycles that spew out ridiculous amounts of pollution, so it's a bit of a piss take to whine about petroleum companies and evil rich people that are ruining the world.

Hi all Just as a foot note when working in the states flew on Boeing 777 and had a chance to visit the c**kpit (all before9:11) Pilot asked what do you think the “mpg” was and found out we were burning a ton of fuel every 10 mins 😳 and we leave Gatwick with 60 tons and by the time we got to Denver we have used up 50😳 As for the exhaust jet engine burn a high grade paraffin hence why you can run a jet on diesel and not a very flammable fuel like in die hard 💩💩😀😀 so they produce lots of water hence the con trails you see which are ice crystals as it is about -50 up there at 39,000 feet but it’s still a hell of a lot of fuel for a one way trip Best wishes Al

Also forgot to mention that the con trails act like clouds and reflect the suns heat away as after 9:11 it was proved in the USA that for the three days of no commercial flights the average temp slightly increased due to the absence of extra water vapour in the atmosphere so looks like we are all up the swanny as to cut down of jet travel may make the situation worse😒
Sorry to say this but I think things are now gone to far with pollution global warming uncontrolled population growth world and governments that just to continue and are not interested in actual change as it is only if these bodies make changes as well as the general population Mother Nature has decided a change of management of planet earth is required and is starting to plan for another mass extinction and recon we are the dinosaurs this time round Best wishes to all Al

Font gardens maybe as parking can be a problem but why not have the rear garden as a little Oasis I'm just an old fart Well your not on your own. Makes perfect sense to leave a little corner or more alone for wildlife. I do so at home it's called the front and rear garden, and if the neighbours don't like it they can swivel. Toying with the idea of wild flower seeding the "lawn" and cutting once a year instead of the usual twice (I dry the grass and use as bedding for 3 hens!) You could go a bit further and keep bees. Doesn't take much effort to keep a single hive, don't even need a huge garden! plenty of help and advice out there!. There are a few colonies in the local garden centre, people all around them watching no threat to the people as they are enclosed in a fine mesh cage about 7 foot ish high around the hives with a door for access. I sit and watch ours, I find it fascinating... if only humans were so efficient. Go on... think about it.. www.bbka.org.uk/PS as for getting stung, don't let this scare you off and don't dwell on the possibility of it happening.. it will happen. We have bikes, we fall off bikes and get hurt...it does not stop us ridding!! The Mrs is allergic to bee venom and is on a course of allergy treatment 3yrs long, we just carry an EpiPen and phone...

Having a social conscious is not a piss take, having your eyes opened about the state of the planet and then starting to understand your place in the problem is not whining, appreciating the dynamics that have led to perilous state we are in as a world and a species is not pushing an agenda. Autism is a spectrum that has many characteristics so to reach any conclusion about what defines greta and at what end she is on the spectrum is speculative at the best. Who is it that is using her to push their agenda? Just because she may not have the social skills to be able to answer questions doesn't mean she is incapable of her own thoughts. I don't feel hard one by, by the uber rich and i know that i and my wife technically fall into the top 5 percent through hard work and graft, and yes that may make me a whining liberal, but what i despise is the manipulation of the wealthiest to keep the majority down, and the use of the press to spoon feed the general population. I haven't seen any comments about being left or right i have posted about the reasons i believe why it is that she is attacked in the press and that sector of the press self defines as right wing. Do you truly believe that anyone in a position of power and wealth is interested in changing the status quo? This may or may not be of interest to some or none, however without free thinking and open discussion things will not change, just because it may not propagate your narrative doesn't mean it isn't true
