Hi there , i have a story for all here , a friend and myself went to Hartlepool to look at an rg500 my mate was wanting to buy we got there and the seller had 7 of them!! and another in bits, at first the seller talked the talk and seemed to know what he was on about, claimed the bike we were viewing was in tip top shape my mate haggled and got a deal, now this guy was stating that the bike could be ridden home. The seller delivered the bike to my mate and wanted cash even though his ad stated he would accept a transfer? Anyway the long and short of it he nearly drove my mate round the bend with lie after lie and stupid excuses for major things that were wrong with the bike, the list goes rusty water in the rad knackered forks fuel tank was scrap inside but looked great outside 150ml of gearbox oil 3 different sparkplugs 1 a bp6es!! worn bores 1 disc valve was actually concave rg400 carbs with jets and not one even synced!!bits of the inside or the carbs had been glued??as was the throttle cable one of the cranks was twisted so the disc valve timing wouldnt line up he had joined a 2t feed line with cable ties and tape and the 2t pump was adjusted the wrong way too weak!!"ride it home ?" and had started to pick up on that cyl my mate had several further trips back down to sort out problems but the last straw was when he removed a barrel and found that it was a 400 bottom end that had been machined to take 500 barrels and on further investigation the engine no prefix had been altered from a k(400) to an m(500) after rubbing the number with wet n dry,and a 400 clutch, the seller was adamant that Suzuki and guys like Mark Dent were all wrong and 400s and 500s were all the same apart from the barrels only when my mate threatened to take him to court over it did he take it back, in bits of course, and he also told my mate that it had been jumping out of 2nd as he was leaving!! my mate said it was like trying to work beside a pickpocket as the guy wouldnt leave anything alone when he was trying to sort out bits for the bike, now this guy doesnt even own an rg500 manual he,s just a chancer with a load of rg,s im sure he sold another 3 , a late f plate with early body work and chattering disc valves ( he said it was the clutch) a red italian import with knackered barrels although it was poss a 400 with 500 panels and a german import blue white that looked quite good but the frame was bent under the bellypan , now my mate was willing to work with the bike he was willing to spend 3k plus getting it right but the engine nos were the last straw, now this guy is a total fool and a compulsive liar and starts tripping himself up the more you talk to him and his bikes arn`t exactly cheap either and he lives in neverland as he has the same name as the late owner of that place you have been warned"shamon mutha****er"

I have taken an already brilliant bike and made it even better was his quote on the bay I think the guy has 'issues' tbh ,my mate was going to go to town on it but it's resolved now ,I could go on and on who's Tony Armes me? Or the guy selling the bike? Cause it ain't any of them think Billie Jean ... Cause I think bubbles the chimp built the bike.

Showing my age I’m thinking neverland as in j m barrie and Peter Pan, so he has the same name as that ‘alleged’ offender.

Eeeh- heee yes they had a lot in common they had the same name they were both white they both owned rg500s although one was presented to one of them by Pepsi, and yes they were both dillusional so there you have it , was pointed out to him that someone might not be as accomodating as my mate was and drag him up and down his own drive but hey ho deaf ears own world and all that.

The German bike has resurfaced on the bay in didcot def same bike i have pics of it on my phone it has the back seat on with a hundred holes in it that my mate returned to him and also has 400 carbs as my mate swapped carbs on one of his trips back to try and sort the bike out now he did get a spin on that on and said it ran much better but that was with 500 carbs but he only got a mile on it before the gear lever came apart because you guessed it- it was glued together!! So thats the bike that the seller told my mate had a bent frame the other one in the ad (last pic) is the italian bike without the antidive on the forks and dodgy barrels according to the seller, now from all i had seen that was the most original bike cause his stupid hands hadnt been all over it but it was red and black euro colour scheme now blue cause he swapped the bodywork. So i ask you all this would you pay over 10k for an rg500 with a bent/damaged frame? go have a look if you are brave enough.

One owner on log book made me laugh. It's a bleedin' import of course it only has one owner...whoever imported it and registered it. t**t.

I think its Chas and Dave that are selling the bike thats the same kind of b/s that was on the original ad for the other bikes, so a factory race team mechanic sells stuff like that without even checking it, i suppose if you find fault with it they will just say "oh darlin... there aint no pleasin you"

Here we go again, same mate different bike. My mate went from Glasgow to North Devon today to look at an rg400 this time supposed 3000mile bike, gets there the engine number doesn't match the logbook the guy blames the Suzuki club for the mistake and my mate tells him that as the seller it's his responsibility to make sure everything is in order as he is advertising it as matching and as not the case it can't be genuine miles can it!!! It didn't run worth a toss either seems that rg,s seem to attract the wrong sort of people

Of course it's the buyer's responsibility but the seller assured my mate on the phone that it was matching numbers hence mileage would be correct so that's why he drove 500 miles to go and deal but the world just seems to be full of lying toads trying to get one over on some poor soul that's not on the ball on a lighter note he probably had a yts boy stand and count the revs as it was idling....

If your mate wants an RG don't look on eBay, get him to join the RGV250.co.uk forum and the RG500 RGV500 FB groups.

The Hartlepool rg 500 has appeared on ebay again that is the one my mate had it's a similar ad to before it had doctored 400 cases on it it's the def the same bike but like 6k more there is some speel about it being in Oxfordshire soon so I dont know if it's the same seller or some trader thinks he has a bargain and is flogging it on stay well clear if u dont want a 10k bill ontop of a 16k bike.
