Hi guys,
On my F2 I have a weird clunking noise from my forks that appears to be something to do with when the forks are fully extended. When i ride down the road, the first time i pull the front brake and the forks dive it clunks. Then when they return back up it clunks. I initially thought it was head stock bearings or something but the MOT chaop couldnt find anything like that and was stumped so I'm coming to the experts.
I'll try and get some photos added but I can't seem to find the forks fitted to my bike on any image of Rd forks. They have a black thread top cap and the valves underneath point directly up. The others I've seen, seem to be at an angle on a little mount ( the valve that is).
Also, is that valve for air assistance or just a release valve?
Photos to come tonight.
Many thanks in advance for any help!

I Certainly do, thank! Thats odd. All the photos I found were different! Ok great I'll go for a rebuild then. I'm sure there's a nice guide on here somewhere. Any advice on parts etc?

I got the parts from Norbo. The Haynes manual is not bad for fork rebuilds & theres probably a few videos on youtube. I've just done mine because there were stripped anyway to clean up the bottoms.

Hello there, Did you rectify this knocking sound? My LC2 31k forks seem to have similar symptoms. When being compressed (with the brakes on) there's a knock then another when allowing them to extend, no matter how slowly you do it. The knocking noise doesn't occur if you push the bike against a wall and compress the forks, so I thought it may be a brake problem?
Just wondered before I start taking things apart blindly!!!
Cheers, Loudy.

Bush replacement is fairly easy, an in hex Allen key on 3/8 impact gun helps to remove the bottom Allen key
The hardiest bit is the top where the valve is you need to keep downward pressure on the socket as you loosen the nut or it will go airborne taking out anything it happens to come in contact with during its flight, aka a champagne cork except much more brutal
I’d also look at your fork springs, are they the correct length for your forks LC2, F1 and F2 are all different
Are your springs in spec too they could have sagged, is the correct spacer in there too along with its retaining washer
Is your oil level correct
And has the rebound spring on the damper rod been fitted
All these could contribute to your issue
