Out on the 4L0 last night and I noticed a little wear between the gear shifter and engine casing. The seal in the crankcase is fine - with any wear appearing limited to the outer casing. Before I strip the thing - is the bush or bearing in the outer casing available? Looked on a couple of sites and I couldn't see it listed. Cheers

Don't think there is a part as such but on my last build I replaced it
The ypvs had a bush in the crankcase which is only a few quid so I bought one, drilled out the side case with a pillar drill then pushed in the ypvs bush with a bit of epoxy on it to help bond it in

I had a case on a previous build that was missing the bush altogether. I found a roller bearing; 38033351721_e5e636d284_b by dusty miller, on Flickr Had to enlarge the hole in the case a bit as the bearing has an 18mm OD, but took just enough out to make it a tight press fit. Should last forever hopefully ! 24192114198_fd30153559_k by dusty miller, on Flickr Dusty

Sure thats for the crankcase not the outer casing. I'll keep it save though just in case the crankseal does start to leak.

Looks a pretty doable repair. Looking at drilling, reaming then fit a phosphor bronze bush. Thanks for all the tips and advice - it's most appreciated.

There was a company on EB that sold a press in bush in place of the seal and had a seal fitted on the outside to get round the wear. Ive not seen it for a while but keep a look out. picclick.co.uk/Yamaha-Rd-250-lc-Gear-shaft-Fixbushed-273971292970.html

Chris - that looks like the crankcase - it's the outer casing I need sleeved.
