I fitted r1 type refurbed brakes to my new build new seals new lines New 14mm master cylinder new pads new discs. The problem I have at low speed is a on off type affect when I pull the lever coming to a stop they bite then release then bite then release causing a pogo type effect as I come to a standstill, I presume the same thing happens at higher speed as well,a bit like warped discs but I can’t feel any pulsing in the lever and they’re new discs from Norbo anyway.Any help would be much appreciated as I go to the Isle of Man in 2 weeks. Cheers Bodger.

Possibly an incorrect/inappropriate Master Cyl bore to Caliper ratio?

Just by looking at the pic. The caliper looks like it’s mounted wrong. It’s too straight. The back of the caliper should be lower. The two gold stars on the caliper should be covering the disc. Could the pads be snagging the disc as the angle is off on the caliper
Plus, when the pad wears, the pad faces will eventually touch and then you have either no brakes or really bad brakes....

On off effects have nothing to do with the calipers. Measure the axial movement of the disc. You prabable have to sand the contact surface of your wheel and disc.

Thanks for your replies lads I’ll definitely take the discs back off And check they’re sitting flush on the wheel and I’ll also have a Look at mounting the brakes differently. Cheers Bodger.

I’ve had a look at the brackets lads But I’m quite happy that the pistons are ok and on the discs, what I did find was a piston not working as it should and I’ve had that out and cleaned it up. But until I ride it later I don’t know if that was the culprit and thanks for your comments.

From looking at how much of the disc has been in contact with the pads' the caliper definitely needs to be positioned properly to start with.

Yep, That caliper is only grabbing the outside of the disc....

I seem to have the same bracket as you tacky1 did you cut slots in the pre drilled holes thus enabling you to move the brackets around , and in turn moving the calipers ?

I’ve ran out of time now, In Devon for a week then when I get back we’re Off to the Isle of Man. What I did manage to do before we left Saturday Was elongate the bottom hole where the adapter Plate bolts to the original bottom caliper bracket On the fork leg so I could pivot the plate forward a little and hopefully that will be enough for the calipers To grab more disc. I didn’t have enough time to test it So I won’t know if it’s worked until I get to the island Thanks for all your input everyone. Bodger
