Yesterday I officially became an old fart and bought a Triumph Street Twin. I told the myself I needed a slower upright sensible type of bike and before I knew it got the Triumph. My only defence is that I don't recognise the guy looking back at me in the mirror anymore and wonder who that fat grey haired balding t**t is and why is he looking at me.

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. Nowt wrong with the Triumph buddy, you can still crack on riding one of those. At least you never got a Harley complete with tassles and chaps, that would be admitting defeat. That fat grey haired fella looks back at me too every morning but I just give him the finger. Enjoy yer bike and stay young inside at least.

Ha ha you’re still riding though. That’s why I bought the r nine t. Rather that than some dayglo Derick struggling to get into your one piece whilst riding some super bike at 50% of its potential pretending you’re still 20.

Don't kid yourself
I find the less powerful the bike the more I rag the tits off it and ride like an idiot
Enjoy Steve

There was me thinking you’re all sensible. I can’t ride them Any more sold my 851 few years back as after 30 minutes I was in agony, so decided to try a hardly did 500 miles flogged it, I wasn’t that close to death, bought a 1200 monster 140bhp animal sold that after beats civic type r down a motorway that was going to only end in tears, looked at the trumpets but was persuaded by the bmw, I can thrash it and it’s quick enough but it makes me smile, only selling it now for cash towards my house build. Enjoy the triumph.

You don't have to ride any bike like a nutter to be able to enjoy it.

To quote George Bernard Shaw...
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.
If your bike makes you happy that's all that matters I think!

At least you haven't fitted "mid range" pipes to an LC. If I ever do that then please wrap me up in a white coat and get me a 1 way ticket to Dignitas

I look at it as rebelling against the previous generation ,back in the day all the new bikes were Japs and they were loads faster, reliable and modern than all the Triumphs the older generation had. Now like you I'm the wrong side of 50 and I have a load of old Yamahas in my collection but my modern bike is a Triumph, I am just too cool to be old Ha Ha

Why not the Speed Twin - I was going to buy one, but then thought when would I actually use it. Ended up buying a TZR250 which I am going to restore, I can justify in my mind 3k on a toy, which will sit nicely with my LC and VFR. So I have a 1979 LC, 1988 TZR and a 1989 VFR, Stuck in time me?

Im agreeing with steve on this. Ive knocked myself around a fair bit. Lots of injuries.. My back is only one bend away from 2 weeks in bed at any time and knowing that really cramps ya style and at the same time it scares me. I know growing old cant help me either. Knees, hips , ankles 'wrists and well basically every joint has its moments. As dusty has said. Its more enjoyable to restore bikes as its too hard on the body to ride anymore.

Binned the romper suit, Open Face check shirt biker jeans and shades, born in the swinging 60's 👍 good shaft...drive is 2nd to none 😎 enjoying 2 old guzzi's
