Today i did 2 sessions on Zandvoort. The Front spring must be weaker. It is a fz1 vork. Preload is minimum. Which spring will i drop in? Probably a R6? Its a 43mm fork. The back has an R6 2002 shock. Which is to weak. Preload is max and still scraping the spannies😤 fortunatly i have bought the shorter NK dogbones which rizes. But what will that do with chain clearance and will it help to reduce the sag? Bike is with original swinger. Here some pics.

The R6 forks I have are soft with me sat on the bike. They are 5EB forks.

Not sure on the front but would have thought the weight of the fz1 would make it too firm
As for the rear the 2002 shock may just be knackered
Speak to Brook or Maxton about a better spring

Just payed a visit to my engineer and the front is ok. It is the r6 shock which works with a 1:3 triangle. My 31k is more 1:1. Now looking for a heavier spring.

I visited Bas @ Hyperpro and got another spring. I will measure the sag with and without myself and with both springs. R6 oem and the Hyperpro spring.

Hi Marrcel what is the spec of the hyper pro spring?

I am sorry i did not get that info. It has the size of the spring of a R6 damper. But it is a lot more stronger. Say 50% more. It was not easy to find a stronger one that fit the damper. But apart from the nr of windings i can measure the wire thickness. I do have a scale but how can i put enough weight stable on it? I dont know.

Hi Marrcel what i would do is put the weigh scale on the table of a drill. Then you could use the drill spindle to compress the spring 10 mm and read the weight on the scale. you could do this in progressive steps and plot a graph. Do this for both springs for a comparison.
Is the new spring shorter?

The new spring is a try out version. If it is installed i go back to the shop for evaluation. I got 3 ss shims with it to obtain the same R6 length. If the sag is not OK then they have more alternatives. I dont have a drill table but i understand the idea with the scale. I have a large glue clamp but i think its not strong enough to hold 100kg.

Thank you very much👍 At the mo i am more interested in sag than a spring curve. So first is measuring the sag with the existing R6 spring. Second is installing the new spring. Third is measuring the new sag. This will keep me busy enough. 😉

The new spring is a big improvement. But will it be enough for the track? Here are some sag calculations. Next time on Zandvoort will be in 2020 for me. Sag rear 31k Static L swing endtip & bottom helmlock. See pics. L=435max-274min=161mm travel 274mm rubber stop compressed to 14mm. Reartire ca 30mm free. No end stops in linkage. Sag ref, sag high, sag low, sag 88kg R6 spring preload 0mm 435, 390,400, 355mm sag=80/1,61=50% R6 spring preload 10mm 435, 423, 415, 370mm sag=65/1,61=40% Hyperpro spring 7aug19 Preload 3mm rings + 0mm 435, 420, 410, 375mm sag=60/1.61=37% Preload 3mm + 10mm 435, 430, 425, 400mm sag=35/1,61=22%
