Thanks Dusty, yes I didn’t bother with the spacers in the end but I did follow your lead and put sealant on all the gasket faces.

Excellent build liking this much. Are the locking tabs on the rear sprocket nuts supposed to bent over the flats of the nuts? Mine was like this when i bought it ive since bent them round.

Yes mate you’re right, the tabs should be bent over but I’ve loctited them as well for good measure.

Almost every thing is new on this bike, new inlet rubbers, Used belt and braces on the gaskets with gasket goo as well. Spoke to Arrow about my brand new oil pump, nearly crapped myself when he told me I’d have to reshim it!! You buy a new pump and you think you’re doing the right thing, turns out no. Could have saved myself a load of hassle and had my old one reconditioned and reshimmed by Gary at half the price of a new one. 😳 Anyway 2 hours later I’ve done that ... I hope! Finally got to put the engine back in the frame. Had to take it back out the next day because I’d forgot to put those anti vibration thingys on the front and back engine mounting points.Next time hopefully I’ll learn by my mistakes... Carbs disassembled again , back into the ultrasonic cleaner then blown through with a airline.Best to be safe than sorry the way my lucks going with this rebuild. . Throttle cable fitted and adjusted, oil pipe fitted to pump and oil tank filled up with oil . Check .. Bought some of those pipes from Muttsnutts and Jim after talking to beardy... they look pukka !! Might try a cheeky start up tomorrow .....although the oil pump still worries me ..

Looking very nice now I've forgotten the anti vibration washers before too , but you can get them in without taking the engine out, but it's a hassle ! Pipes look great Dusty

Spoke to Gary again, can’t get the marks lined up on the oil pump , not enough adjustment on the cable On full throttle the pulley goes to far around, Arrow says it will smoke like a steam train. ( can’t speak highly enough of him ). Yambits cable too short. He recommended a genuine Yamaha cable.. Bought and fitted, able to adjust to get the marks on the pulley to line up now.As Gary said , you would think if your making a copy of the cable you would at least get the dimensions right. Also if your selling copies on your web sight you’d make sure it would be tried and tested first as it’s your reputation at stake. So she’s finally finished.. I’m really pleased with the finish and look. Thanks to Dustys engine rebuild and a lot of help from Arrow , she started 1st kick. So mot tomorrow and 2 weeks to sort any problems before we go to the classic TT. Thanks for everyone’s help and kind comments ..

A couple of heat cycles should do it

I would do it after first decent run that allows a full heat and cool cycle.

You've done a lovely job of the rebuild - that's an Lc you can be really proud of As for Yambits - I really don't know how they get away with selling so many parts that either don't fit correctly or fail very quickly. There is quite a list of parts that just don't meet the standards they should. A genuine cable is expensive but worth it - you'll get many miles of happy riding out of it now Enjoy Dusty

I had a 250lc back in approx 1985. Thing was abused to within a millimeter of its life. Rode every single day as it was my only transport - even through winter. Clocked up 25k miles on it in a year - then gave it away - traded in for £475 against a new CBX750.
Now - looking at this resto before and after and mine sitting in the garage under a cover and only getting used if its 100% bone dry.
Its unreal there are so many back together - and in this condition.
Top work Bodger.

You've made aBrilliant job of that LC!! Where'd you end up getting your Proper Swing arm Bushes from??? I also got set from Shite Yambits and managed to fit them, had bike on road 2years Now only done about 150 miles on it as have several other Bikes. It's past 2 MOt's No bother! Took it this Year and Mechanic who 's Good friend says your Swingarm Bushes have excessive Wear?!?!? After only 150miles!!!!!!!!! I'm sure I paid about £60 for them!!!! Poor Quality Chinese Crap! Where will it end??
Great Build Mate! Cheers Sean G

Hi Sean G , I replaced the swinging arm bushes with a bronze set I bought from Norbo’s website. The exhausts are made by a company called AC Fabrication in Scarborough and are on Muttsnutts Website.
