Hi Looks a good start for a project Rgv125f front end and Tzr rear wheel ? I had an Lc with a Pv style suspension set up and it meant I couldn't fit an airbox, but that's not the end of the world ! Look forward to your progress. Have you an idea of what further mods you plan ? Dusty

Hi Dusty, It's getting tzr250 carbs and pod filters so no issue with airbox, i've got a rgv250 front end and yokes to go on, the 125 front will be binned, got some 3hm headlight brackets so i'll butcher those to get the headlight and clocks positioned correctly (same as i did on my N1), just want it to look kinda standard at first glance. I reckon i'll go candy red with this one. Andy.

So, i stripped it down today, couple more bolts to pull out from the shock linkage and swinger and it's ready for some colour, i am well impressed with the frame condition, been blasted already, the welding for the rising rate mono ain't bad at all, someone knew what they were doing, the rear shock looks like WP but i'll not be sure till the morra. Whipped the barrels off to see if they were any good and bugger me sideways with a fish fork, standard bore! Cases match as well so well happy with the lump, but, there's a funny grinding when i spin the sprocket, that will wait though as i'm using the engine i had from E=Bay Italy with 5000 kms on it! Off for a pint or two now. Andy. Hi Andy, Nice box of bits with it too. I googled "Rod Harwin" from the name on the sticker on the near side, side pannel. The side pannel at least, must have been raced at somepoint. Steven. www.rodharwinracing.co.uk/about-us

Hi Jon, thanks for the comments, Scooby got arse ended the other week so got written off, i've bought it back, replaced the bumper reinforcer, numberplate lights and bumper, it's as good as new now. Upgraded the wheels to 17 inch Speedlines, the knock must have disturbed some of the sensors as my speedo is playing up, i have had to replace the MAF sensor and crankshaft sensor, the ICV is throwing a fault now, old cars, don't you just love them! Andy.

Steven. www.rodharwinracing.co.uk/about-usThanks Steven, i think it must have been raced as a 250 before the 350 lump was put in, thanks for the link. Loads of bits with it, once done i am going to flog all the stuff i've been collecting over the years, the garage is getting ridiculous. Andy.

Andy. OMFG! Nightmare! What a tale. Glad you were able to buy it back, obviously they wrote it off without any real understanding of the damage. Right now used parts are still cheap enough, tho in few years i suspect they will get harder to find etc Yeah sensors in old cars are the devils work, along with anything made of rubber it seems. My mate has been trying Chinese cheapie MAFs with mixed results but of course original is always easiest to live with, just not the cost always. I can ask him what he suggests with ICVs if you like? EDITED: ICV you can use a cheapy, seems they are usually ok and OEM is silly money.

Thanks Jon, I am going to clean it first, if this doesn’t fix the issue a new one is only £15 with a five year guarantee! Andy.

Had a few hours in the garage today, mocked up the rear for the R1-Z swinger to see what it's like, i think it's more Elsie, with the bracing, just need the dog bones and linkage from Japan (on it's way), put the coil cover on to see if it fts ok, happy with that, just need a bit of welding on the frame and it should be ready for powder coating. That rear shock. Is it WP? And I do remember when they actually called themselves White Power. Even back then I wondered how they got away with that...

Yes Alex White Power shock, seems in good nick too, apart from the bump stop being missing. Andy.

Good shout, they might, got some 5mm reed spacers, if that doesn't work i will go a with billet manifold. Andy.

Well, dropped off the frame, wheels etc at the powder coaters on Monday, and i get a call today, they're done! Wow, another sterling job from SEM in Sunderland, £220 all in so i am well happy, radiator turned up and a new Jap headlight with a N1 bowl mated to a chrom outer ring, i know the wheels don't match, they will have to do for now, let building commence. That’s a great start Andy. Could you post a pic or two of the rear shock mounting on the frame. I just picked up another LC and I’m turning it into a hybrid. Just wanted to see what is needed to mount the shock. Thanks

Had a look at the tank this arvo, to be honest, i thought how much welding will it need, so went exploring for pin holes, bloody thing is amazing underneath, the top however is another story, but i'm pleased it's this way around. More progress the last few days, buttoned up the rear suspension, all tight and good, gone with the Metmachex swinger, had to butcher a R1-z chain slider but it fits nice so i'm happy with that. Mocked the front end up after fitting some lock stops, the bike has to have twin horns so i got them mocked up too, may need to bring them forward a bit to fit the 3hm1 headlight brackets. Spare battery box turned up too from Japan with the elusive strap fitted, so that's good, might test fit the harness this week, i'm not looking forward to it, but hey ho it's all the fun of a hybrid.
