Forgive me, as I've beat the search function to death on this one and not yet come up with a definitive answer. Looking to do 520 chain conversion on my LC. Looks like RZ sprocket sorts the front, but what is the easy route on the rear? And yes, I'm in the states which doesn't help things. shop.pbisprockets.com/ is right down the road from me, but unfortunately they don't even stock standard 530 rears for the LC. Is there a rear off another bike that will fit the LC wheel? 530 or 520 doesn't matter as I can have them turn it down to 520 for me if needed. Help plz.

Sorry, I edited my first post. Bloody phone. Contact him and he will sort you out. He doesn’t list them. Basically they cut back the sprocket to fit the 520 chain.

Just spoke to Jim at PBI here in Portland, Oregon USA. shop.pbisprockets.com/main.scHe's quoted me "about 50 bucks" for a custom hard anodized aluminum 520 rear sprocket to fit the standard LC wheel. Anyone else interested in one while I'm at it?

I just make the rear sprocket up from a blank (but then I have the machines to do it !), 50 bucks doesn't sound too bad for a custom made sprocket TBH as it will take me at least an hour to modify a blank to fit, plus probably another hour of faffing getting the measurements etc all correct

Much more effective than buying a few titanium bolts
I also noticed that steel cap head allen bolts are almost the same weight as a titanium hex bolts the same size.

When I converted mine years ago I don't remember struggling for parts, from memory there are 520 sprockets for another bike that fit straight on. I'm sure I've actually got the part numbers written down at home but I'm working away at the moment. Might be from a race bike, I can't remember, my memory is knackered these days. Back before we all relied on ebay I used to know what part numbers from other bikes fitted on my LC, I could walk into a shop and just reel off the part number for a part off something like an XS650 that I knew would fit the LC - but now I rely on the internet to do everything for me For what it's worth I don't remember the 520 conversion making much difference - swapping out the wheels for lighter ones did though.

For what it's worth I don't remember the 520 conversion making much difference - swapping out the wheels for lighter ones did though. As this bike will retain most of the stock road gear (turn indicators, center stand, grab bar, passenger pegs, etc, etc), I'm not overly concerned with critical weight savings. That said, if I'm going to be replacing the chain n' sprox anyway, I may as well shave a few lbs of rotating mass off and bling up a bit while I'm at it. 520 chain and drilled out race style c'shaft sprocket are quite a bit lighter as well and cost the same as the standard items.

I don't know about you but I'm a good 15kg heavier than I used to be when I was riding around on two strokes back in the day, so the easiest way for me to make a difference is to stay away from the fridge

Given the choice to go on a diet or spend hours in the workshop making things a bit lighter, I know where I will be working, and a lot happier too! P.S. I already have a 520 conversion, when the rear disc was done, so pass me another packet of biscuits over.

I wonder how long it takes to wear the sprocket out?

I wonder how long it takes to wear the sprocket out? I have had them last quite a long time in the past. Well suited for a 2T twin. V-twin 4T or big single, notsomuch
