Take a 35+ year old design then in the comfort of Your Shed.. fit all manner of frankenstein bits to it. Altering it's carefully tailored /designed Geometry in V unsubtle ways. Compounded with the fitment of Wayyy too fat tires and even unbalanced shockers (if Flush :-) Then wonder why it doesn't feel 'right' ? Really?

Yes, just attach to the top with a grub screw
The forks are always clamped up on the bottom yoke so they ain't going anywhere

If it just feels like it needs bar weights try tyre pressure either way
Too high and it will be over sensitive, too low and it will feel like it wants to go to the lockstop when you lean in
Also rear pressure can make a difference to the feel of the steering
Also when looking at the fork length difference you lose 17mm between the smaller wheel and tyre profile
Mine feels good mind

i just remembered that the forks sit in the clipons by 25mm so they should be 20mm shorter which doesn't sound much right? It doesn't sound too much, but add softer front springs (RGV ones are softies) and more weight from clip ons on the front end and the rake of the bike will change quite a lot. We used to drop the forks through the yokes about 10mm on RGV / TZRs when racing, partly to compensate for weight reduction and the fitment of stiffer front springs. Any more and they would be pretty unstable. But they are much quicker steering bikes as standard.

I've never been a fan of the RGV conversions, it extends the wheelbase, changes the whole look and changes the geometry, and IMO ruins the handling of an RD, I've never ridden one that handled particularly well, if they're set up well then they're not terrible but the front always feels a bit vague in my opinion. These RDs with front and rear ends off much bigger bikes look wrong and very often don't handle as well as the standard bike. When I converted to TZR running gear I spent ages measuring the geometry and made sure I got it bob on, so it handles like it should. I kept the original swingarm and at a first pass it looks standard, until you take a second glance and see it properly.

ok been out on it today and loosened of the head set to the point where its almost a bit to lose. seems better or i an getting used to it lol the rgv forks a 45mm shorter from bolt hole to the tops the rgv rear arm is longer and the back end is higher i was thinking of changing the arm to the METMACHEX and then put fork top spacers on. that should make it the same as it was before. has anyone tried this and know someone for the for toppers? thanks for all the advise guys its good stuff. Don’t forget top jokes can be stepped making forks shorter or longer. The measurement I’m interested in. Is the wheel spindle centre to the bottom bearing cup. This is the critical one. Nothing above that really alters anything.

Each to their own, I love the look of mine. In the short rides Ive had it handles fine, and is much stiffer in the frame now after all the work Ive done, defo feels more solid even on my driveway.

Can't say I can fault mine, handles rather well compared to other bikes I've owned
